"Hi, everyone! I haven't had kids and get to lie in on weekends, thinking of ways to spend all the money I don't have to spend on diapers! You?"
"Hi, everyone! I've met Neil Gaiman, and danced with Joss Whedon to Greenday. You don't even know who any of those people are!".
Also:
"Hi, everyone! I've gained weight since high school AND I am completely unsuccessful! How YOU doin'?"
Everyone's gained weight since high school, and most of them have never left town. At least, that was my experience at my 10 year reunion.

You could tell them you are a successful amateur pornographer. Or make up something like that you are President of Canada (yeah, yeah Prime Minister whatever), it could work because nobody in the states knows anything about Canadian politics. Seriously though, you are self supporting and witty and that is success.

Subtract the part about leaving town and add to this all the guys were bald, and you have mine.
I haven't thought to ask, Sue, but I remember when you bought it you were worried about being further out of the city. How are you liking the area now?
It's not too bad. It's a nice little neighborhood. It's a bit limiting in that I have to plan where I'm going and when if I want to catch a bus. (No more impulse jaunts to the movies.) There's a major bus terminal about a four minute walk from my house that will take me just about anywhere. The only thing I don't like is walking at night. My neighborhood is tiny four block area that's bound by a very busy street, a ravine that has a railway tracks in it, and huge shopping mall complex, so whenever I come home at night after the mall is closed it's very isolated and dead. There can be quite a bit of traffic but few other pedestrians.
I get the bus to work right outside my house, and I try to walk home most days, which is a 45-50 minute walk. I am loving the walk home. It's good exercise and it totally unwinds me.
The most annoying person at my 10-year reunion was the girl who was a bit of a geek in high school who hadn't gained an ounce (and she was a stick figure to begin with). She decided to come in the slinkiest outfit she could find and marched around the reunion yelling at people for past slights, imagined or otherwise.
I haven't been to any of my class reunions.
From what I hear, the people I'm most interested in never come to the reunions. And about 70% of my class lives within 20 miles of our town.
This year would be my 15th high school reunion. Luckily, we aren't having one.
It sounds like a good neighborhood! I can't imagine being able to walk home from work in 45 minutes. Hell. Some days I can't imagine the drive being less than 45 minutes.
