paperdol, that is awesomely cute! That wee girl looks so happy to have a big brother.
I love new baby smell. It's like the new car smell.
Will someone here call my sister and tell her I'm moving? And that I'm going to have to cancel our birthday weekend? I'm such a chickenshit.
I told my parents last night that we don't celebrate Oppression of Indigenous People Day here, but that's way better.
A school in my neigbourhood celebrates "Before Columbus Day" the week earlier. I like that approach.
Okay, can I nap now? I've been in, like, maybe an hour.
It's deeply, deeply amusing to me.
Almost as amusing as the time that the Big Name Youth Pastor dude gave a rousing speech extolling the virtues of boldness and exploration and named several "heroes" and their great victories, including Columbus. In Phoenix. To a crowd of Native kids.
We were all, uhhhh...and one of the leaders said, aside to us, something along the lines of, "No, that was more of a loss for us." No kidding, man.
Anyway, this is a good week for me, because all three of our schools are off for one reason or another; intersession, fall break, Columbus Day. So we have a week that's genuinely available to catch up, finish paperwork, get cleaned up, work on the house, etc. So that's good.
We worked our asses off all weekend on the house. Sanded all 17 kitchen cabinet doors down to bare wood, which took two days. We did this outside under the pergola in our backyard, so it was lovely.
One of the rooms in the new place is all (walls and ceiling) wood paneling. Real knotty pine from the '40s, not fake wood paneling. It was looking rather tired and were thinking of a painting over it or sanding it. Well, I sprayed a section with Murphy's Oil Soap and let it sit for a bit, then wiped it off. The towel came away BLACK, but the paneling looks at least three shades lighter! I honestly think it may never have been cleaned. Murphy's is Da Bomb, and Teppy should definitely use it on the floor.
I really hate mondays.
As I skimmed by, I read that to say I hate monkeys and I was all, "what have monkeys ever done to you, sarameg?"
Murphy's is the best.
I love the Before Columbus Day and the navigational confusion day. y'all are funny.
What does Murphy's Oil Soap do?
there is a street fair outside my offices today, so I am going to go get crepes and a funnel cake for lunch.
I am on day 3 of feeling like crap and I am betting dollars to donuts that it is all hormone induced mild depression/anxiety with a side case of low-grade fever for which I have no real recourse. caffeine and sugary starches probably aren't helping - I'll look into that next month.
See, navigational confusion day is a day I can get behind, because it pretty much describes my life.
so I am going to go get crepes
So jealous. Gah...starving now.
