Happy Belated Birthday jen!
It's ridiculously hot here in IL but we're supposed to get a break in the weather tomorrow. (Cannot be here soon enough.)
Our pbs station played the "Lesbian Spank Inferno" episode of Coupling tonight. Even funnier to watch it on PBS.
I'm kinda with ita on the cookies. Homemade are so much tastier than store bought. PLUS all the PD chat is highly amusing.
I looked up mallomars, and I can't figure out what the difference is between those and the Pinwheels that Keebler makes. The grocery store's generic brand also makes a cookie-ish thing with marshmallow fluff in chocolate. I can get them anytime I want and always could, if I want to spend the money and blood sugar on it.
well, there is the darkchocolateness for starts
It was a bad day for the Chicago marathon
The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon was cut short for the first time in its history Sunday as hundreds of runners laboring across ovenlike streets were treated for heat-related illness.
The stoppage happened about 3 ½ hours after the start gun on an abnormally sweltering autumn day, amid complaints of insufficient water for more than 35,000 runners who had come from around the world to compete in one of its preeminent marathons.
One runner, a 35-year-old Michigan police officer, died after collapsing in the race's 19th mile, but it was not clear whether the death was heat-related.
darkchocolateness
Everything is better with darkchocolateness
The last I saw on the news, the number sent to the hospital is over 300 now.
Good grief. Of course, if you're running a marathon in Chicago in October, you're not really planning to have ridiculous hot weather, but....you'd think you'd up your water order or something.
The Trib just says "more than 100" but I doubt they've updated since it was posted.
I saw the over 300 number on the 10pm news. As for water, turns out the race did not supply water (or not enough water, I'm unclear on that) along the route. Runners were having to stop convenience stores along the way and buy water/gatorade/etc. Which is totally ridiculous.
eta: ah. Not enough water. Here's the story:

seems they didn't plan for needed extra fluids and they ran out.
