Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Man, I am absolutely LOVING Dirty Sexy Money. So fun and over the top!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm quite familiar with the Anna's Ginger Thins, but have never run into the Lemon Thins, which would probably be a great hit with me provided they're also cow-free.

Cult cookies from the Boston-Cambridge area: the Dancing Deer cookies, especially the Molasses Ginger and my not-so-secret vice, the Cherry Almond Ginger Chews which are pretty much minor occasions of sin in cookie form.

Unfortunately most premium cookies are cow-intensive, so when I come across some that aren't, I latch onto them with fervor. (Sadly, most vegan cookies tend to be whole wheat and avoid sugar like the plague.)

That was an awesome episode of SNL.
I'm pretty sure it's also the one with Sinead doing the most awesome version of "Last Day of Our Acquaintance." Because the first time it aired, the fire alarm went off in my dorm during that and I was most vexed. (It was an old building with crap wiring and there were constant false alarms.) Then when they reran it, something else happened, I can't remember what. So when I finally got to see the whole damn thing I recorded the Twin Peaks bit and the "Last Day..." performance.

Which reminds me that now I need to transfer the song to MP3..

My family's cult cookies are Mother's Cookies, from Oakland. I was particularly fond of the Flakey Flix and am devastated that they've stopped making them. Sigh. When I was in IL I discovered that Matt's Chocolate Chip cookies are also very good indeed. When my friend Niels was still out there he'd send me a couple of bags of them for Christmas.

I had these amazing pecan cookies from Harris Teeter when I visited VA last. I doubt that counts, but they were made in their bakery, so not a national brand or anything. Man they were good. Too good.

Yummy dinner + wine + cappuccino + tiramisu have been consumed.

In sad news, there is one less froggy living in my garden now. I won't go into details, but I am quite sad about (and, sadly, responsible for) his loss. Poor guy. I love my little frog families.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

When I was in IL I discovered that Matt's Chocolate Chip cookies are also very good indeed.

I just discovered these recently when I realized a focus day was really going to suck and that the crew would need treats. They are tasty.

Because books.

Not a cookie, but the all-butter poundcakes from Well-Bred Loaf are a huge favorite of mine. Thick, individual slices, with the top all crusty and sweet ... Yum. I don't know if they're around anymore, but you used to be able to get them at any deli in NYC.

Wow, I misread "deathrock" in Jilli's Press post, which was temporarily startling.

Mmmm. I would like some of that poundcake, please.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I never really got into the habit of non-nationwide dessert food, I guess. But my passion for Mr. Kipling's apple and mince pies is vast and true. He just gets around. And there was a place near my job in Montreal that had great apple muffins--the muffin tops were huge and had great big chunks of squishy apple in them.

Otherwise the things I swear by are savoury.

Well, I still have the headache and he knows. Bleargh.

I am so tired. For no reason. Or very little reason. Last week I was screwed up for several days and stayed up late and woke up early, so I know I was sleep deprived. But Thursday night I slept for 10 hours. Friday night I slept for at least 8. Saturday night I slept for 9, and today I've taken at least one long nap and I still feel completely worn out.

And it's not like, "I'm a little sleepy," but like, "I need to sit in my car for a minute before I carry 4 library books up 3 short flights of stairs" bone-tired.

I wonder if I'm getting a cold or something. I kind of hope so, since then there'd be a reason for this.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I am so tired. For no reason.
