Such cute Buffista babies!! (Erm...I just had to edit that since I accidently typed "suck" at first, and I really don't want to advocate vampirizing our offspring.)
It's Jen's birthday? Happy Birthday!
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

JenP's, yep.
Maybe it was the car services that can't be hailed?
Except in the outer boroughs or above 125th st since they're underserved.
(can't recall if that is an actual rule or some sort of accepted practice)
simple, right?
if the pedicabs survive there will be a whole 'nother layer of rules
Heh -- one of my favorite SF bar memories is the weekend of that crazy debauched Halloween F2F, when we went to Blondie's on Valencia and you kept ordering different martinis based on what the olives in them were stuffed with.
They had a lot of variety! I was very disappointed that they were out of the sausage stuffed olives.
I remember that -- it was a harsh blow, but you bounced back nicely.
That was an awesome episode of SNL.
It was. It was also the origin of the "If it's not scottish, it's crap" store.
Heh. I actually remember that episode of SNL, because it was so consistent funny throughout. Particularly the k.d. lang bit.
Happy Birthday Jen!!!
Thanks, y'all. It is a brand new decade for me. AND I have a week off from work ahead of me, so double yay. Going out to dinner tonight, and then I'ma come home and plan out my attack on borders.com (um, with a gift cert; I'm not planning to hack the site). It is an exciting life I lead. Some cohorts and I are planning a celebratory trip for our mutual new-decadeness, too... we just couldn't get it planned in the actual year we all turned, which is sadly typical for us and also funny.
Happy birthday, Jen! Yay vacation!
I've pretty much learned the borders of the zones for the places it matters for me -- the only one that I really need to care about is the Florida Ave. border in Adams Morgan. But I live right near a zone border, so I can go about twenty blocks east on the one zone fare, but more than about three blocks west gets me the two zone fare.
I LOVED the Zone system, but I had it figured out. I lived on the edge of one zone and I knew if only I would cross the street my fair was substantially less.
See, whereas I lived six blocks from the zone edge...and generally wanted to go about six or eight blocks over the zone edge. So, not close enough to walk to the corner, but short enough trips that it pissed me off to have to pay a two-zone fare! Thus, I almost never took cabs.
Plus, I knew the zone boundaries for the zone or two I usually went to, but if I was going somewhere new? Fuggedaboutit.
Happy birthday, Jen! I ate a cupcake in your honor. Actually I ate Matilda's cupcake. Mmmm, gingerbread with cupcake frosting.
