Oh, that scene was so hard, Consuela. I adore Tami. And I love both Saracen and his grandma! Saracen is just ... adorable. I want to hug him, hard.
I think that the eight months meant overall, she wasn't counting the flying weekend trips, because seriously, it's not like he was on Everest. He had to come home at some point.
It confused me at first, because I'm so used to Buffy and even Veronica Mars, I couldn't figure out how eight months had passed and it was still summer, until I realized, oh, FOOTBALL. Ended early in the year, I guess.
I need a weekend when I can mainline all of S1. I wish it could be this week, before next Friday, but ... that's not going to happen.
Research question to be x-posted with Great Write: Anyone know how sturdy old VW buses were? Body-wise? If a vintage bus crashed into a modern police car, not hard enough to hurt anybody, but with definite impact, would the VW need a lot of bodywork? Or were they pretty sturdy?
they're about to release a guy who's served 14 years for a rape he didn't commit
And yet, the Duke lacrosse players are suing the city for 30 million dollars, and the case never even got as far as trial.

Buh? The lacrosse players have an excellent case, and you can generally pick a damages figure out of the air. Not to mention if there's that kind of shenanigans in the rape case, he can sue too.
All done with my chores!
I signed up for a season pass for Avatar on iTunes, and the new episode is up, but it won't let me download it. It's just sitting there, taunting me.

They were definately not built to survive the front end hitting anything. Or, maybe I mean to say that no one could have survived in the front seat if the front end hit anything. There was nothing between your legs and the front panel except a little air. They were built to last (the one in our family is still going) but I'm not sure they were crash-worthy. There are lots of clubs and things for them -- maybe one of those websites would discuss?

sounds like it wasn't shenanigans as much as incompetence. which is not to say that he wouldn't have grounds.
My point was, lots of people spend decades in prison for crimes they didn't commit, often due to prosecutorial misconduct or incompetence, and don't get $10 mil. apiece. Example: [link] Of course, lots of people aren't wealthy white college students with right-wing backing and very fancy lawyers.
Plus, in the Duke case, the lawsuit has stopped the city's investigation of what happened in the police department and the prosecutor's office, because of the possible liability. I feel like the lawsuit will cause *less* justice, not more.
Spent the day sanding kitchen cabinet doors and frames and boy, are my arms tired. Literally. Think they're gonna look pretty good when we're done, though.
Moving in two weeks! Have not yet begun packing! Have too many books!
