Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

oh my, I wish I could have played Barbies with you! all of you!

You know, when I log in and one of the threads has suddenly piled up a lot of posts, it usually means there's a passionate discussion of some food item or other. That or jello wrestling.

Hec, from what I hear LA has MUCH better food selections than back in the day. Mind you certain things it always did well. (Always being defined as back to date of my birth -this post is very me-centric.) Mexican food, Japanese food, Korean food, and yeah Jewish deli. (Kantors is considered as good as anything in NY by many New Yorkers.) Also had good Chinese food, but with a lot of really bad Chinese food, so you had to search for it. I liked So. Cal when I lived there, and suspect I would like it now, though it is a very different world from when I was there; my having been born there and lived there for twenty odd years would probably do me zero good if I went back.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I'm teaching at 4:30 @ UCLA tonight...so no plan plans but I only have a bit between being at Palms and being at UCLA. What's up?

Oh phooey. I wanted to see you is all, but I'm here grading and won't be back until 5ish. I think my best bet for seeing you is to plan ahead to meet up with you so I can be home in time.

Yeah. I'm heavily scheduled. I'm at P* on Monday and Tuesdays. Then I alternate Wednesdays at P* and R*. Then R* on Thursdays and Fridays. Also for two months, I'm teaching on Wed. at UCLA.

Why yes, I am busy!

I'll prolly go back and pull out school names in a few minutes cause it feels weird.

Also, sharing picspam of Grace at her new place. Binky attached to hand-holdable stuffed animal is brilliant! Noah is almost over his bink. He's much more into hand chewing. Which is good because we aren't likely to forget to bring his hand somewhere and sometimes we do forget binkies.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Grace looks like she's doing awesome. Her room is so bright and sunny!

I saw those pics and was struck by the awesomeness of the binkie doll, as by the awesomeness of your beautiful baby girl. She's so pretty.

We should try to meet up on a Monday or Tuesday. I'm home on Tuesdays so that's probably the easiest, but I could easily get home by 3 or so on a Monday or Wednesday as long as I had advance notice.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

She looks wonderful.

Tuesdays are good. Or goodish! We could go have Oaxacan!

Grace looks like she's doing awesome.

Thanks... she does. I mean for an impossibly sick child she is actually pretty sturdy, strong and healthy.

She's so pretty.

Thank you! I love the hair growing back in. She had a buddha thing going for a while.

Binky attached to hand-holdable stuffed animal is brilliant!

Genius! She looks so thoughtful there.

The status is NOT quo.

Kat, I have a mentee who's interning at my school this year and teaching one class. She's really interested in UCLA's graduate education program and asked me if I knew anyone who was familiar with the program. I know that you're beyond swamped right now, so I don't want to impose on you, but do you know anyone who could give her the inside scoop? She's thinking about applying for next year. Thanks!

ETA: OH! Such cute pictures!!
