Oh, I'm sorry you have a rough night. I wish there were anything I could do.

[Edit: could you try to get your mind off things? Take a long hot shower? Watch a loved movie, one during which you don't mind dozing off? Read a beloved book? Drink hot chocolate-or-good-hot-drink-of-your-choice? Stuff like that?

Also, it's very in-the-season of you to think about stuff in this time of year, isn't it? You're so good and right-on-schedule with the worrying, in a way.]

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My department moved to a new office a few weeks ago, and I finally got around to putting my pictures and postcards and stuff over my desk. There were a bunch of pictures of Israel in there, and it got me thinking about how much I want to go visit there again. (Spring break, maybe, if I can save up enough money.)

Did you see my edit above?

Also, visit Israel! Yay! This time, we may manage to actually spend that shabbat together!

I'm in the middle of rereading Prisoner of Azkaban, so I might try that. Though something not dealing with school might be a better bet.

Huh. The El-Al site just crashed my browser.

Yes!

I spent way too long today working on this proof that I just can't figure out. I've been staring at it for close to a month now. I think I'm making a rule that I can't look at it again for the next two weeks, because I just keep getting way too bogged down in it, and there are other more productive things I should be working on.

OK, El-Al clearly does not want me to go to Israel any time later than October. I was trying to put in some dates to get a general idea of how much airfare would cost. It doesn't let you type the dates; you have to click the date on the calendar. And any time I try to get the calendar to go past October, my browser crashes.

Hil, definitely go with that no-more-for-two-weeks - let your brain some time to play with it alone while you're not there.

Maybe only read the final chapters of PoA? The ones after all the exams, with the most-of-the-action parts?

Also, I gotta go - still has to get organized before I leave for my parents soon.

I hope you manage to get some rest in what's left of the night. Not necessarily sleep, just rest. And, hey, if you have sleep to catch up on tomorrow, you could spend a large part of the fast sleeping, and it may be easier for you, right?

Take care.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

FWIW, I also find some simple computer solitaire games, like Freecell to be hypnotizing but not so brain-involving that they can calm whatever insomnia-producing demons are riding me, after a while. The games can't be word games, because reading only revs up my brain generally.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Happy Birthday Sophia!

Great news about the childcare, Kat. What a relief!

ION, my baby can flip! (And was finally willing to do it on camera.)
