Buffy: He ran away, right? Giles: Sort of, more. turned and swept out majestically, I suppose. Said I didn't concern him. Buffy: So a mythic triumph over a completely indifferent foe? Giles: Well, I'm not dead or unconscious, so I say bravo for me.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

big huge can't-handwave-it-away-with-the-magical-power-of-cultural-relativism red flag for me.

this. Damn Bing Crosby. 'Cause aside from the wife beating thing he's so darn cute.

If you're looking for costume ideas I have seen some very clever ones at College Humor dot com. I went over there to try and find a linky direct to a gallery of costume photos and it said I had to register to view 18-and-over content but before that I saw a great Inspector Gadget so you don't have to register to view all the photos. Generally it's a NSFW site.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

shrift! Frank Iero is going to be on the next episode of LA Ink. Apparently the flakey tattoo artist stands him up for several hours. Does he stomp off in a huff? Does he sit around bored? Nope - he helps move stuff around in their stock room.

See, and this is part of why a bunch of us think Frank is adorable. I'm seriously considering purchasing that episode off of iTunes.

I just remembered I had a total little-girl-crush on Xenophon. I think I read about him in a Marguerite Henry book. I even named one of my gerbils after him.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Techy/Mathy terminology question...

OK, the word "percent" literally means "Per 100." So if you say "85%" you mean 85/100 or 0.85 of something.

Is there a math or technical term when you're not using percent? - i.e. you're using numbers between zero and one to specify a fraction of something, rather than (a number zero through 100) followed by "percent"?

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I share ita's Gene Kelly crush. In fact, I think he's my only childhood crush that has persisted into adulthood. No wait, there's also Danny Kaye.

So I like men who can sing.

Damn I feel like shit on a spit right now. I've just hit the point in the day where I'll do anything to get some quiet. Right now the kids are watching some Disney princess promo vid for Enchanted Tales (yes, princess music videos) and eat veggie chips. If I could sneak in another nap I would.

Random question of the day: anyone else ever developed a crush on a historical figure

I kind of fell in love with Diana, Lady Crosbie from her portrait at the Huntington. She has the most wonderful smile and eyes.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I've also had crushes many a fictional character. I have friends that I swear are single because no men measured up to Travis McGee or Francis Crawford of Lymond.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

The only thing I can think of is "decimal" or fraction in decimal notation

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I had a picture of young Laurence Olivier up in my locker in High School. [link]

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

But in Philadelphia Story he is, IMO, out-hotted by Jimmy Stewart.

SO. Very. True. Hence the reason I bought the jimmy stewart stamps a few weeks ago.

My historical crush is on John Adams. Based, partially, on his letters to and from Abigail. Also, I just feel like he was the right mind for a fledgling republic. But I'm a nerd.
