tommyrot, tons of ~ma to your mother. She's in my thoughts (and, if she cares to hear such things from your invisible friends, my prayers). It sounds like they caught it early and she's in a good place emotionally; may all that continue and may her cancer just bugger the hell off (er, don't tell her I said that part).

All they have to do is cover every surface. That'll get them inside your nose in no time at all, and then soon your mouth and into your lungs. Bingo! Deadikins.

Yeah, but that'd be kind of a waste of resources. Plus all you'd have to do is cover your face with a cloth or something.

Now if they knew where our weakness was, they could use a much smaller group, making it easier to sneak up on us before we could cover our faces with something.

A Palo Alto visit would be wonderful -- your friend and her babies, and the university campus, and also there's the lovely drive from Palo Alto to San Francisco, along a quiet highway that cuts through misty heavily-forested canyons that look like something out of LoTR in miniature. And, yes, tommy, I have no clear memory of if I did post my wishes of ~ma to your mother, but I was hoping that everything is as minimal as possible for her. I'm just easily distracted these days, and probably forgot to type that I was hoping.

I love that drive! If it's the one I'm thinking of. I drove it with my mom once when she was visiting me out there and I hit a chipmunk. My mom taunted me about being a woodland creature killer for years afterwards.

101 = Evil.

280 = LoTR in miniature, with lots of turnoffs to get to picnic areas and reservoirs and who even knows what at all. I keep meaning to take an entire weekend day to drive down lazily and explore. It's sometimes slow and crowded, but still better than 101 because at least the scenery while you're stuck in traffic is so pretty, whereas 101 is always slow and crowded and ugly to boot.

Remember that conversation we had about the American Girl "Historic" doll from 1974?
