paperdol, I think it's a great subject for a book. I didn't start trying to talk to my neighbors until I became a SaHM and realized I knew nothing about my street or the people on it.

It took years before I became friendly with my next door lady and I realized that she has had a fascinating life and is really interesting. (Her parents were concentration camp survivors who met in Italy after the war, she was born in Rome, raised in Israel and married a South African before moving here to go to grad school, and she teaches Hebrew language and history at OSU).

It took a few years for me to learn my cop neighbor's last name.

And I made friends with the lady across the street because she has a teenage daughter and I needed a dog/baby sitter.

the "kh" is that sound that doesn't exist in English, that's sometimes written as "h" and sometimes as "ch".

Nilly, this sound is SO HARD for me. And embarrassing because my neighbor's daughter is named Chen-Li and I sound like a doofus when I call her "Hen-Li"

Kat, I really hope you can sort your childcare out. It sucks and I wish you could stay home, too.

Oh, I dreamed about ita last night! I was at her family's house, helping to take care of her. Except then the dream changed and I was making out with her famous actor chum who was also there, which is funny because I promise I'm not particularly interested in him! and there was some big family event going on, so flocks of single women were making eyes at him and I was all gloaty.

Also in food news (yes, I'm procrastinating by catching up on my blogs), today is National Cheeseburger Day! If you are thinking of celebrating but are worried about mad cow disease, why not try having your cheeseburger with a side of cannabis?

No, I don't even have cable! I think it can be explained by the fact that I was dreaming about ita, and my husband and I were kind of snuggling in our sleep (it was COLD last night!) and that got transferred into the dream world. Also my husband is basically built like the fellow - tall and lanky.

today is National Cheeseburger Day!

I'm totally having a cheeseburger for dinner in celebration!! OK, I would have had a cheeseburger for dinner anyway, before I even knew, but still.
