Well, last week Angela said something about how far away her due date was and this week she was just past the due date. That difference would be how far along Brennan is.
I might not have doubted the offscreen hookup had I known last week that Deschanel was pregnant.
I still call foul on the Bones pregnancy, but there you go. If they backfill the when of it happening, I may be OK with it, but if they just leave it a mystery, I'm gonna be pissed.
But that's why there are DVDs and the ability to fast-forward--or simply skip. There's enough angst in my life.
So, not your beautiful show anymore? That's cool.
Personally, I like that they have put a little gravitas in Castle's existence if he's going to be working with real detectives. But i've liked the deepening gravitas because it has been coming gradually the whole run of the show. This wasn't that big a surprise from that perspective.
I am curious if they can get back to the lighter edge they used to have, though. So I may share that concern with you. I don't want Castle to turn into a huge ongoing angst-fest.
Well. The Mentalist was more disturbing than usual tonight.
When people show up here who have seen the show, can you chime in? I have a question about the end.
So, not your beautiful show anymore?
Not so beautiful anymore, no. I liked having Castle turn out to be competent and serious as a grace note, but on the whole a big kid whose money has given him more scope but hasn't ruined him. It was the '30s-type witty crime thing, Nick and Nora Charles and all that. But trying to maintain that for much longer would be leading down the road to farce.
The steampunk episode and the UFO/Lyle Lovett episode are things of great joy to me. The serial killer episode was a nice bit of savory in the midst of the fluff. I like witty, urbane fluff.
I expect Castle will regain it's levity. It's only when they're dealing with her mother's case or a multi-ep arc that things get really serious. It may be a couple episodes into the next season before we feel the lighthearted vibe again.
I still call foul on the Bones pregnancy
What do you mean by "call foul"?
I think it was pretty disappointingly handled. If I'd been invested in the ship I'd feel very cheated. They slept together and we get no indication of changed vibes? Nowt? Pfah!
The Mentalist: Whoa! I was not expecting all that. Well, I was expecting the mole to be who it was, because it seemed to be the only way to stop the wedding, and that had to be stopped. But the reveal of Red John and his demise? Absolutely not. I thought that was the end game of the series. I can't even imagine where they go next. Jane didn't even bother to construct a self-defense scenario, where he easily could have.
As for how he found Jane, I'd only imagine he was being followed. It's the least of his magical powers, pretty much.
ita, responded to your post in Lite.

I rather enjoyed how it was handled. There were changed vibes, albeit subtle ones- that Max picked up on. It would have been very easy for the writers to construct a big, passionate scenario with the inevitable fallout as both of them struggle with their feelings, but for it to happen in the manner in which it did, where it was Brennan expressing vulnerability and sadness and loss and then the two of them sort of retreating into their shells makes perfect sense for where they're at right now. (Of course, we don't know what they've been up to in the 4-5 weeks since it happened-- whether it was a one-off or they've been horizontally mamboing, but maybe that doesn't matter.)
And to have it come back to a pregnancy, when that was something Temperance expressed a desire for two seasons back, I think is kind of poetic justice. It's what she wanted, but it's not going to be at all how or what she expected.
