Art Crawl!!!

He planned it so that Red John would come to him. He knew that Red John was watching him. He had Lisbon use O'Laughlin's phone so that he could hear the conversation around him.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

we don't know what they've been up to in the 4-5 weeks since it happened-- whether it was a one-off or they've been horizontally mamboing

And that's where I feel cheated. I'd like to have been able to see some difference--some tension, or some increased intimacy, or something. But the idea that there was no difference doesn't make sense to me. I don't get a payoff there.

And Max being able to tell I think was entirely scripted. The two of them have acted affectionately before as required by cover--Bones is requisitely able to suddenly understand human nuance as soon as she puts on a costume. I don't think they revealed anything there, they just had Max act like they revealed something.

Bear in mind, I'm pretending they're Mulder and Scully or Castle and Beckett or some couple I have feelings about, so there's a translation delay there for me.

If you have all that tension for years and sleep together and then...nothing...what was it all for? If there hadn't been a pregnancy, would we have known?

Art Crawl!!!

If there hadn't been the meta-pregnancy I bet they wouldn't have moved forward at all.

Other things: we are to assume that Bones isn't on the pill - and that being the case it is therefore most likely that she got pregnant the night of Mr. Nigel-Murray's death because if they were together at other times I cannot believe that she would forego birth control.

ETA: Unless, of course, she intended the pregnancy.

Because books.

I would be really surprised if they go forward with it, though. They're going to have to write Angela and Hodgins as new parents, even if every episode doesn't feature the baby, and I just can't imagine they're going to go there again with Bones and Booth, especially when their relationship is so vague (at least to us).

I could have sworn I had heard they weren't going to deal with Deschanel's pregnancy on-screen, either.

But I also can't quite see them having her end it, or having her miscarry, because that would be a hard thing to ask of a pregnant actress.

brillig

that would be a hard thing to ask of a pregnant actress.

I remember what they had to do with "Married with Children", when the actress had a miscarriage. That must have been horrific.

re: Bones, I remember Sweets' bafflement when he learned that Bones and Booth had done some serious flirtation when they first met. I thought that was great, that Mr. Super Shrink had misread things. Though maybe not, Denial is the watchword for Booth and Bones--and I still think a serious relationship between the two of them would be a disaster.

Always Anti-fascist!

Connie, that was even worse. Poor Katey Sagel had a stillborn baby.

Amy, they're going forward with it. Hanson and Nathan are all in. [link]

the show’s producers not only blew off that pesky (and outdated) Moonlighting curse, but they kicked it in the groin

?? First off, I hate the premise that there is a Moonlighting curse. And then, past that, I hate the conceit that any show is so clever that they have avoided it. Just keep writing, guys! If your show has hinged on the fact that they're not together, it's probably too late to fix things now.

Because books.

That's really interesting, Maria. I'm not incredibly enthusiastic about it, though.

We'll see what happens. The premise is intriguing, in that they wouldn't be a couple at this point if she (Brennan, not the actress) wasn't pregnant, but the writing and execution are going to make or break this.
