brillig

I wonder why they air Castle so late? It's seems a perfect fluffy entry for earlier in the evening. It doesn't even have the Bones "can we make our audience barf this time?" gross body of the week that airs right after dinner.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Castle has some grim storylines and "adult themes". I can see why it is at 10.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

What do you mean by "adult themes"? Unjudged bisexuality?

They make very light of the murders. Something like SVU or Criminal Minds or Fringe or even Supernatural airing at 9 seems dissonant.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

We've only had two new episodes since what, November? Why the repeat already?

ita,

ha! I was mostly talking about some of the jokes about sex and sex partners, etc. You know how those are categorized as "adult themes" when TBS cuts them out of movies. SVU is supposed to be at 10 and I think it is moving back there when the Leno fiasco is finally off the air.

I don't know what to tell you about "Criminal Minds" - that's a 10 pm show if I ever saw one.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I read an interview with Mariska Hargitay saying that they're going to take full advantage of the return to 10, so I guess they've been holding back.

Criminal Minds is definitely the show most likely to give me nightmares. I don't distinguish much between 9 and 10, but I'd imagine if I had kids with bedtimes I'd rather see CM at 10 and Castle at 9. I waffle about The Mentalist.

Looking at the listing for next week, I'd say ABC is reserving the earlier time slot for reality shows.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

After the precinct shooting episode, I would definitely classify "The Mentalist" at 10pm.

I waffle on it precisely because of Red John. When he's not on, it's 9 o'clock fare--it's sarcastic and pretty easy for the casual viewer to not realise Jane's a psychopath. But Red John is some messed up shit.

no shit, right? Yeah, the ep with speed dating was harmless enough. So I see your point. But I figure the most violent ep should be what dictates the time slot.
