I liked that he wasn't going to lecture or yell, but he also wasn't going to let the friend off the hook with her parents.
exactly. Castle's actually a really good dad. I also liked it when he had the model girl come over to hang out with Alexis so that she would have people to ground her.
eta: not in the "you're grounded, young lady!" sense, but in the "keep your feet on the ground (and keep reaching for the sky)" sense.

Yeah, that was nice too. This and Lie to Me (when they deal with it) are definitely picking up that nice functional father/daughter thing I was missing now that Eureka's on hiatus (again).
That was the best Castle episode so far, I think. The tone has been a bit uneven this season, but I really liked last night's episode.
DH is really unhappy with Beckett's hair this season. He keeps whining about it. "Why do they always have to grow out her hair? And for God's sake, why give her a mullet?"
I had to rewind the beginning of Castle three times before I even watched the show. I mean, a shout out is one thing, but that was nuts. I was laughing so hard. All it lacked was a tightness reference. Hee! "I like it!"
I was worried about the episode and it did make me cringe a little, but I liked the direction it took overall.
I love Dad!Castle. It was so great that Alexis did call him, and it was great how he handled it, and it was great that they showed the real consequences with her friend. Also how cute was she in her costume? I love the depiction of her as age-appropriate.
OMG I am 490 posts behind.
But, I am here because this is exciting news. The book series is a procedural, a terrific one.

"Evergreen Films of Anchorage and Los Angeles has acquired the screen rights to the Kate Shugak novels, with the intention of making a television series.
"As you have all heard me say too many times to count, I was determined to sell the screen rights only to someone who would shoot the series in Alaska. Specifically, to someone who would put Alaska, not British Columbia or central Washington state, right up there next to Kate and Mutt."
Woo hoo! I hope it gets off the ground.
Reading these comments I am so very, very unhappy that the stoopid Philadelphia TV station didn't air Castle last night and instead aired the Eagles playing football. I hope they'll show it at some point in the future.
Morgana, if you can watch online, it's available already: [link]
I finally saw to the end of the episode, and Castle continues to charm. Big points to the show not just for charisma and chemistry (of which Fillion is possessing in spades), but also having the cops be not dumb, and I too like the great father/daughter relationship. It's good to see he's not just a friend to his daughter--I can never stand that single father dynamic, when they treat the daughter like a peer, either by her forced maturity or his immaturity. Castle's a goof, but he knows when to man up.
The name of that Castle episode was "Vampire Weekend". Heh.
Another great moment: Castle working on his
(for mine is an)
evil laugh.
