It's true, they've made it clear enough that she's trained in weapons, so she could make the shot. I guess I was just surprised.

Did someone pick up the gun out of the shooter's hand at the end there - I had turned my head for a moment so I didn't see who or what happened there. Can anyone tell me what happened? (I mean, she was dead like a dead thing at that point, right?)
Yes, somebody picked up the shooter's gun. I thought it was Hodgins - didn't he go over to the body?
Yes, I think it was Hodgins. Angela just kind of stood there with her mouth open. Hodgins sent Zack to call 911. I don't know what Cam and Sweets were doing.
Also, I thought that it was kind of wierd that she ramped up the obsession so quickly. mem!faultdeadguy she stalked for months, and never escalated.

I was just thinking that. It all happened way too quickly.
Why would you do that?
It's all so weird - aside from my discomfort with the whole meme, it's hard to see why they threw this in so slapdash at the end of the season. How much better if something like this had been building for a while? (Well, not this this or I wouldn't be watching, probably, but still. A more subtly done this would be okay.) Or, if they hadn't wanted to take the focus off the trial and needed something to ramp up quickly at the end, why not have it more out of the blue, unexplained, setting up a mystery for next fall?
This just feels so lazy - "quick, we need a cliffhanger for the end that doesn't need much build up. I know - we'll get a fat chick to shoot Booth! No need for narrative build up since everyone already knows how that goes down."
That's a big part of why I'm so bothered by this, actually. It's the fat girl equivalent to lesbian bed death, and it's fucking old.
I wonder if the stalker storyline is one that suffered from the shortened season. I assume that there was a place that they wanted to end up at come hell or high water and to get there they needed to do this.

oh, that's an interesting point. If they'd had this ep end with everyone watching Brennan and stalker!chick sitting in the back, whispering "look at me, Seely", that would have been a better ending. Then, they could have had her show up in random eps, like sitting in the coffee shop, or someone noticing Booth's new belt buckle that was a gift.
I thought that she was going to go after him because she was the one who killed the object of her affection in the first place. That would make sense to me that she would try to shoot Booth, but since they found that culprit, I was completely irritated with the ending scene. No real purpose and it sucked.
