It's nice to see some brave pretenders trying to make it interesting.

My mom just wrote me and my sister a long spiel on the various tv shows French television decides to air. Usually the shows are dubbed, but one stations is showing in VO (undubbed) so she finally got to hear the "real" voices of the actors. She prefers the dubbed shows, even though she has a harder time following along.

The French must love all the cop procedurals, because they get all flavors of CSI, Without a Trace, and Cold Case. For a while they also had Gray's Anatomy and apparently now Ugly Betty. Oh, I think I remember watching Bones too, this past trip.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

They get most shows, it's usually just a question of whether they are on the regular stations (usually dubbed), or cable (often VO). It's eye-opening to watch the comedies dubbed because (IMO) they lose a lot. Friends was hugely popular and I gained a new appreciation for the actors when I realized how much of that show was in the delivery.

And there are shows that I only saw living in France, where it was jarring to finally hear the real voices of some of the actors in later shows. Julian McMahon, I'm looking at you.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Is this where we talk about TheA Daily Show? Cause last night Jon had me laughing so hard I was crying. He was just snarking and riffing about the coverage of the New Hamshire primary but it was all great!

Man, I think those were the last MNIE and 30 Rock, and they even had finale-ish feels to them.
