Spike's Bitches 37: You take the killing for granted.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I've tried watching Numb3rs. I got a little too eyerolly at the magical mystical mathematics, though. I really wanted to like that show.

Delurking in Bitches to say Yay! for Teppy's dad-o'-steel.

Oh, and to say y'all are strange with your rounding ways of subtracting--it would never have occurred to me to do it that way! I just figure "52-37: Take the one from the 5, 12-7=5, 4 (from taking the 1 from the 5)-3=1, so 15." For multiplying, I can only do 2-digits times 2-digits; any more, and I need a piece of paper. "36 x 24: 4 times 6 is 24, put down the 4 and carry the 2, 3 times 4 is 12 plus the 2 = 144; 2 times 36 is 72, add a 0 at the end since it's the 2nd digit over = 720 plus 144 = 864."

I have always added and subtracted using my fingers. I learned in 6th grade that this was a bad thing, so now I can do it without actually moving my fingers.

It really would have never occured to me to do arithmetic in my head by using the pencil and paper algorithm. That's really interesting.

Compassionately intolerant

Yay Teppy's da. Go him with the fortitude!!

In entirely opposite news, my faux-son's friend and boss...father of 4 sons under the age of 14 and stout, jovial pillar of the neighborhood...went into voluntary surgery last week for sleep apnea. He had a massive heart attack and went into a coma. They took him off life support on Monday. He died Tuesday.

He and his wife...a powerhouse business woman with many, many national ice cream shop franchises...apparently has a rough relationship despite his 'everybody loves him' public persona.

It's been interesting to see how various neighbors are reacting. Faux-son and I took the eldest boy to the Renn Faire on Sunday. I imagine we'll be doing a lot of kid whisking away in the near future. I honestly can't think of anything else useful to do...they've specifically asked for no food or flowers.
