pours Jessica a Fernet
Sorry, punkin.
If I need the rocking action, I'll switch over to my ulu knife. I love that thing with an unholy passion. It's so useful! And fast! Chop chop chop, mince mince mince! Whee!
Ahem.
I do use my chef's knife, but the chopping of things into bits is best done with the ulu.
Okay, have to go to work now.
Are you avoiding Spanish again?
Nope. Calling home on some students. May or may not help. I need to come up with a plan.
YAY FERNET!
I've tried ulus, and I can't get the hang of them for some reason. I am ulu-challenged.
Since the Santoku style became popular, most of the big guys have started making chef's knives with thin hollow-ground edges, which are a neato hybrid between the two. That might be what you have, Sean, in which case you should send it to me immediately because I want one.
Speaking of house porn, the guys came and tiled our kitchen floor yesterday and it ROCKS. It's vinyl composite tile, the kind they have in schools or hospitals, We chose two colors-- gray-green and, well, green-grey--and they are laid in a random pattern. There are also four black tiles as accents. Very retro-funky and cool. Also cheap--$1 per sq. foot! [link]
The cabinets are painted an apple green which matches the lightest green flecks in the tile. The DH is painting a second coat on them today and then we can rehang all the doors and bob's your uncle!
Robin, it sounds beautiful!
Sounds gorgeous, Robin! Pictures???
argh I can't find anybody to take care of my animals next week when I'm away and I can't find a date that works to take my friends who are impossible to buy presents for out to birthday dinner. ARGH! I SUCK AT PLANNING sometimes.
I miss you too. And you totally should have called me while drunk.
We were gonna, but it was time for my Britney Spears Karoke!! Had to go sing!
Also, for the record, about half of everything S talks about these days is how to get you and Joe back to LA. I think she misses y'all more than I do. She talks about it a LOT.
AWWWWWWWW!!!!
I added a link to the exact tiles we used in my original post--forest and deep fern are the colors. I will try to get some pictures of the place later this week. I am really happy with it.
