Speaking of house porn, the guys came and tiled our kitchen floor yesterday and it ROCKS. It's vinyl composite tile, the kind they have in schools or hospitals, We chose two colors-- gray-green and, well, green-grey--and they are laid in a random pattern. There are also four black tiles as accents. Very retro-funky and cool. Also cheap--$1 per sq. foot! [link]
The cabinets are painted an apple green which matches the lightest green flecks in the tile. The DH is painting a second coat on them today and then we can rehang all the doors and bob's your uncle!
Robin, it sounds beautiful!
Sounds gorgeous, Robin! Pictures???
argh I can't find anybody to take care of my animals next week when I'm away and I can't find a date that works to take my friends who are impossible to buy presents for out to birthday dinner. ARGH! I SUCK AT PLANNING sometimes.
I miss you too. And you totally should have called me while drunk.
We were gonna, but it was time for my Britney Spears Karoke!! Had to go sing!
Also, for the record, about half of everything S talks about these days is how to get you and Joe back to LA. I think she misses y'all more than I do. She talks about it a LOT.
AWWWWWWWW!!!!
I added a link to the exact tiles we used in my original post--forest and deep fern are the colors. I will try to get some pictures of the place later this week. I am really happy with it.
will go back and read 70 posts. after I work 8 hours in the next three. And possibly sleep a few in there too. Iris had ear infection the first last night. Only way she could stop crying was when she was being rocked, with her head on my shoulder. This was after the tylenol, for five hours. Poor baby. The doctor looked in her ear this morning and was all "woah. ok, you get the drugs now."
juliana, the ulu knife looks a bit like the classic Italian mezzaluna - also recommended for quick chopping.
erika, glad the book got there - really, I saw it and knew it was for you!
Teppy, I know this is coming in late, but having a meltdown is reasonable. You've been carrying the weight for so long, it has to be wearing you down. And it would have been nice for someone to offer some sympathy, but they probably just didn't know how. I hope you went home to a welcoming Boy and a nice dinner.
I love the colors you picked, Robin. I'm totally bookmarking that site for when we get to the kitchen.

may want to go to their store and be among the first to pick up their new t-shirt, which says My Safeword is "Ow!". They say the phrase will appear in an upcoming series of strips.
Their current shirt is Frequently Asked Questions.
