Spike's Bitches 37: You take the killing for granted.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

And juliana, O thou veteran of Folsoms past (or, okay, just one) -- what did you think of this year?

It's a fair. It's a fair that has me mentally shrieking "MY PEOPLE!" every few minutes. I love Pride, but my participation/connection to Pride has shifted over the years to support and cheerleading (not literally). Folsom is unabashedly adult and all about the kink and letting one's freak flag fly high and proud. No shame. Manners, but no shame. (Note: I'm not saying Pride isn't about being out and proud, because hello. It's a matter of how me & my sexuality have shifted over the years and my personal responses to both events)

It's just this wonderfully pubLic (you have no idea how long it took me to type that properly) lovefest of sex and sexuality and freedom, a middle finger to all the repressive hatemongering coming out of the NeoCon Right, a mix-and-mingle of all sorts of weirdos who aren't, in fact, weird.

On Saturday, when Lee, Bridget, Kate, and I were shopping, one woman started belting out "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year." For me, Halloween wins that one, but FSF is the runner-up.

Event-wise, I was sad to miss the White Rats Morris Dancers, but we did catch the Ethel Merman Experience. If you've never seen a drag queen singing "Come As You Are' in the style of Ethel Merman, you haven't lived. Unfortunately, I had to bartend the two nights prior, so I was exhausted and had to split early. The motorcycle parking was awesome, though. [link] Free, staffed by Dykes on Bikes, and they had a helmet check.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

and they had a helmet check

Heh. Awesome!

one woman started belting out "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year."

Cute!

Hmm. I can relate....

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

It's a fair that has me mentally shrieking "MY PEOPLE!" every few minutes.

For me, that fair is the Renaissance Faire. At least, for the minutes I'm not hiding my head and wailing, "O, my people!"

I desperately want another six or seven corsets, though I think I'm at the opposite end of that particular freak spectrum from the FSF folks: 'tisn't the leathers, it's the elaborate brocades and rubbed silks (I still pine for amych's scarlet shantung silk corset from the very first F2F) and the gorgeous embroidery that make me wibbly. Well, that and the "Holy shit, I have a waist!" effect.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

(It's dupioni, not shantung, but OMG SO FLATTERED and aww)

There's some of that for me at FSF, too. Also, looking at the jibblies on display and hoping they're covered in a really good SPF, because sunburnt jibblies aren't of use to ANYONE.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

A while ago Jilli pointed me at an ebay-er who makes custom corsets for a more reasonable price than Dark Garden. Need to revisit.

www.meschantes.com. Search eBay for "meschantes", because they have auctions for custom-fitted corsets with Buy It Now prices of $200.

I want a new corset. But the tattoos come first. (As in, this coming Sunday.)

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

It's a fair that has me mentally shrieking "MY PEOPLE!" every few minutes.

Hee. I guess for me that was Austin, at the Alamo Marsathon.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I wear my corset to work, Burrell.

Yeah, well for me that really isn't an option. That's very much NOT how I want my students looking at me.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

oh Jilli, Shadow Fae closed down! I was so looking forward to pointing people to it - they admired the dress I got from them and I wanted to share the joy. sigh.

Dude, I totally knew that! I am so ashamed of myself.

And I forgot to mention the utter crazy awesomeness of the facts that (a) you made it yourself, and (b) it was your first such effort. Just, wow.
