[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I still make lists - but my lists are a week long. Really overwhelming if you look at them . Most of the things I have aren't time sensitive It generally doesn't make a difference if I call the doctor monday or tuesday , but it has to be done. Taking care of one thing makes it easier to go on to the next - if there is time.

My rationale for my long lists is that I don't write things down, they tend to slip my mind. Kinda like this beta read that I should've done weeks ago. The other writer sent it to me right before we went away for Labor Day weekend. I came home to over 100 messages, and I just didn't think to look below the new email to see if there was anything from before I left that I needed to deal with.

Anyway, having a list helps me focus. E.g. today I still haven't gotten to my real priority--producing at least 3 pages on the WIP--because my primary writing time is after Annabel goes to bed. But by writing all those other things down, I have a sense of what else needs to be done so I can make use of whatever time comes my way, and maybe get to some of the things I've been putting off for weeks.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Anne and GC, Nick is putting Avatar episodes up on TurboNick.

Were any Buffistas at the OMWF Singalong last night? You missed a great show. And me saying lines into a microphone on stage.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

We checked out a 1988 Plymouth Grand Voyager today. It would have made a match for the 1988 Dodge Grand Caravan we got last year for $50. Ok, so the asking price was ten times as much, but still, under Blue Book value. It had been smoked in. Nasty something or other the guy must have been smoking. It didn't bother my breathing much, but then we had all the windows down while test driving it. But the skin on my arms felt like someone had been going at me with sandpaper. So I hopped in the shower when we got home, and immediately felt better. Weird. I've never had a reaction like that before.

Needless to say, we are still vehicle-hunting.

The status is NOT quo.

My car decided to randomly set off its own alarm today. I didn't even know I *had* a car alarm. I spent three minutes being really annoyed at whoever wasn't turning off his/her alarm before I realized that the irritating car was, in fact, mine.

Then the car completely refused to start at all. Now it seems to be working. I am paranoid as hell that it's been going off randomly in other settings without my knowledge. I need to figure out how to disable it.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

It's so much nicer following the Bears game on Yahoo sports. I've only had homicidal feelings about Rex Grossman once so far.

Kristin- my Mom's car won't start while the car alarm is going off.

The odd thing is that I'd turned the alarm off first. All I can guess is that the car has some kind of temporary kill switch or something.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I had something very similar happen to my Tercel a few years ago, Kristin. A previous owner had installed an alarm that we didn't know about and therefore never turned on, but when it got too old it randomly set itself and went off. That's apparently just something after market alarms do, eventually. Mine didn't make noise, it just kept the engine from starting, so alarm wasn't the first thing to spring to mind, but a mechanic figured it out immediately. He was able to disconnect the alarm in about 5 minutes, I don't remember if he even charged us, though we did have to get it towed to the garage.

I found my car alarm when I slammed on the brakes one day and it fell on my foot. It didn't seem to be attached to anything.

This is an original Prius "anti-theft deterrent," it seems. I've been doing some online poking around, and it looks like I may need to get my Toyota dealership to take a look at the battery. Fun! I just really don't want to incur the wrath of my administration if th car starts going off during school. Our school operates in a historical landmark, and we operate under a Conditional Use Permit. In other words, our neighbors already don't like us. Random car alarms are not going to help. Meep.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

My car used to set off its alarm for no damn reason at all. Still does, sometimes. Oddly, it stopped doing that (much) about the time I promised I wasn't going to sell it. My car is neurotic.
