Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

I hope you had a wonderful birthday, Katie Bee!

Congratulations on the job, Emily! Yeah that you get to learn a new subject? My mom's old boyfriend was told one August that he would be teaching pottery, never having touched clay in his life. He quick got some books on pottery and taught it to himself. I don't know how good he was at teaching it, but it ended up being one of his favorite classes.

Tell you what: you come to my house and help me clean up, and then I'll come to your house and help you!

Up to this week, I would have totally taken you up on this, Zenkitty. This week, I actually seem to be able to do my own. I know it's only Wednesday, but I've gotten significant cleaning done each day this week and got a bag of clothes I no longer wear taken to Salvation Army today. I'm really proud of myself, and a little scared, because I can't imagine this lasting. I mean, I'm not even rushing because of impending company or anything. Just working. And reading. And not sleeping.

And now, off to do more laundry and dishes.

eta: I almost forgot in the mememe. Much ~ma for Sammy, Andi. Hugs. And no, the corn makes no sense. It seems that homemade would be better. Or, when I was in California at a fancy, shmancy pet store, they had frozen meat for dogs and cats. I don't remember what the brand was, but Googling frozen cat food brings up several options.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I'm up. What's up?

S has a big goose egg over her left eye. I have no idea when it happened. I've been distracted, and away from the house working quite a bit over the last couple of days, and I don't know how or when it got there.

She's not entirely sure, either. She says she fell day before last, and came down on her knee (which has a large and ugly bruise right around the kneecap, but she's pretty much able to walk on it just fine), but she doesn't specifically remember hitting her head or her eye on anything.

I'm just kind of freaking out a little bit, and wondering if it's been there for a day and I haven't noticed, or if it's something she received while I was gone this evening, or what.

That's bizarre. I don't know what it could be. Does it hurt?

Huh. Maybe it will just go away on it own.

Well, it does sort of look like she got popped in the eye. She's not really showing any other signs of concussion or anything (that I've noticed or can tell), but I'm still pretty freaked out about it.

Sean, wait and see how it is in the morning. See if you can eyeball a measurement, to get a feel if it's swelling, shrinking, or staying the same. If it's swelling, I'd say taker her to the doc/medic/clinic/HMO urgent care/whatever our horrid health system aspect you guys use. If it's shrinking, should be ok. If staying same, wait another day, same thing. Is her vision ok? Peripheral vision ok?
