Art Crawl!!!

Happy Birthday to Katherina B and Ms. Havisham!

Congratulations Emily!

And whoo hoo! I have a working kitchen sink!

Apparently, my googled information was not quite correct. Earlier in the week I went through an entire 16 oz box of baking soda, much vinegar and several kettlefuls of water only to have no effect on the slowness of my drain.

Last night I did one last attempt - on the other side. (It's a double sink.) Nope.

So, I was going to call it in but naturally I forgot.

Then I was talking to a friend who watches that British show "How Clean is Your House" and on that show they always pour in the boiling water immediately after they do the vinegar and then they plunge.

So, that's what I did. I'm not even sure I needed to plunge because the hot water drained IMMEDIATELY.

And I had been doing v. labor intensive, inefficient dishwashing: i.e., wash a dish, rinse a dish, dry a dish, put a dish away and turn the water off between each step. Despite that my sink filled almost all the way up and I had to wait about 30 minutes 'til it cleared to try the baking soda, vinegar, boiling water trick.

I'm so happy.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Rabid tasmanian devils are more rational than a toddler.

We don't have rabies in our Tassie devils. Just contagious facial cancers.

My friend's girl twin, who is 17 months tomorrow, just started eating people

That was a great place to break the sentence. Gerber's soylent green!

I think we should say, "The penguin on top of your telly is about to explode!"

Am I the only person here who needs to think, "Which one?"

I hope the echidna survives unscathed.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Windsparrow, I'm in agreement with you re: cat food. Cats shouldn't be eating carbohydrates. They're only in there because they're cheap filler for pet food companies.

Compassionately intolerant

I highly endorse all meara meetage as she is fabulous!

Our wings are not tired.

SFistas! I'ma be in ur city, interviewin' 4 ur jobs!! Or, rather, in Foster City, but whatever. They just sent me an itinerary--get out to SFO around 5:30pm on Thursday the 23rd, and leave at lunchtime on Saturday. (Friday would be an all-day exhausting sort of interview). Not sure how much they'll have planned, or how much I'd be up for, but...I'll let you know!

Damn, I'm gone, but you know that. They'll have to bring you out again. And Foster City is 5 minutes from my work!!

Mostly lurking...

Toto just went to mom and dad's, and now I'm sad.

ETA: ION, I am a complete idiot. I have completely run out of my main sleep/anxiety medication. I cannot believe I did that. Ugh.

Oh, yes, Birthday Happies to you both!

Yay, Emily!

Windsparrow, I'm in agreement with you re: cat food.
Thanks, Zenkitty. I just hate this feeling that the people whose expertese I should be able to count on in these circs, have gained their nutrition education via vet school classes sponsored either by Hill's or by Iams - so they are taught to think this is good stuff, but rarely stop to think those lovely sponsored classes have an agenda other than the highest scientific nutritional knowledge. Can't blame them, yet... I just have a hard time thinking that the big pet food companies have our pets' best interests as their first priority. I can believe that of some of the smaller companies, because their ingredients labels sound like real food.

ION, things I have accomplished since 7pm:

  • changing the downstairs litterbox
  • sweeping and vacuuming living room, dining room, kitchen
  • emptying the vacuum container thingy and cleaning the filter
  • laundry: a load of bath towels, the old shower curtain liner that Daniel wants to use as a tarp or something, the kitchen rug, the sheets and blanket from the guest bed
  • guzzled 20oz of water

Sorry you are missing Toto. And you are not an idiot, just a bit scatterbrained. I'm sorry you'll be feeling the effects of missing the meds until you get that sorted, though.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

groom reached under the marital bed and pulled out a shot gun

Ummm...wow. That's just terrifying. My brother also has his masters in pastoral counseling, but from a Baptist seminary. He's a lot more fundy than me, but not as scary as some I've met/am related to.

{{{vw}}} I completely understand missing Toto. I miss my cat when I'm away from home. That's one reason he travels with me so much.
