Aww man I missed the Vroman's reading. Not that I would have been able to go anyway but ::pout::. I just sent my Mom off on her latest cruise with a copy of Vampire People.

Spike's Bitches 37: You take the killing for granted.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
The Vroman's reading was excellent, and I finally got to put faces with the remaining LAista names. Am tired now
Bloody hell. I knew I missed something. :( I probably wouldn't have made it. Left the theater after 4. Tired as heck when I left. Don't think I would have made it. :( Stupid work.
Answer to my bizarre Regency scifi mystery: turns out it's just a tad bit of alternate history that puts it in the "scifi" section--rather than going from crazy monarch to Prince Regent, it envisions a past with a Queen Regent between them for a few years. Um, right. That changes EEEEEVERYTHING. When talking about a girl who is a detective. Who lives behind a brothel. Oy.
would someone please explain how the old bloke who lives above me and never makes a sound is **RUNNING** around upstairs?
Y'know, I love living in a non-traditional quasi-communal house with four other people, one of whom I happen to be married to.
But if they can't learn to LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE when I'm trying to read or write something that's really important to me, they're going to be sponging my brain bits off the ceiling.
Pardon me for considering this to be a less-than-optimal outcome for all concerned.
Of course, the fact that I haven't written anything worth reading in months and months and possibly years has something to do with it. I'm just afraid I've let any talent I might once have had atrophy under the "gotta make a living staring at computer screens" of the last two years.
Please to be directing me to the nearest clock tower. Kthxbye.
take a left on main, right onto 2nd, then head towards the big chimey thing a few blocks down.
(kindly don't aim for me)
Much obliged. This? Oh, it's just a very long violin. Really.
O I thought it was a trombone
(you need the longer barrel)
How tall is the clock tower?
Speaking of trombones, my father's got a student who's going to be performing "Trombonology" by Tommy Dorsey in a month or so. The kid is a junior in high school. I wouldn't have attempted the piece at the height of my trombone-playing powers, 20 years ago.
Perhaps I should take this to the Music thread, but I'm enjoying the stream-of-consciousness riff.
eta: Laga, it's tall enough to pepper innocent passers-by with percussively-articulated arpeggios for at least a block and a half.
