Ugh, not up early, haven't slept yet. At 11 or so I decided to make a little update on a customer's system. Um, it's 4:30am my time and still hoping I can dig my way out of the mess before I have to call DH and see if he can start his Monday morning doing the rescue thing. Eeep, guess I'll take yet another look.
I think I may have fixed it. Maybe.
Well, I think it is back to where I started. I tried again to do the little change and disaster again. Nope, not doing that again.
Also, having seen the one here at the Pantages twice, and having listened to the OBC recording? I think Eden Mendoza (current Elphaba in LA) is better than Idina Mendel (OBC Elphie).
Holy crap! Is that even possible?

Meanwhile, email exchange with former flatmate/bestpal:
Her: Emma is staying in England for the next year, a long story (apparantly) but it involves her being in a car crash in Dahab and having broken bones (shouldre, ear and ribs).
Me: Gosh! Poor cow! Is she in the UK at present, or in Egypt?(...incidentally - at the risk of being a terrible nag, you really should join Facebook. Emma's profile picture has the two of you in it. It's very sweet.)
Me
(a moment later, noticing that her former TA has popped up on facebook): Oooh! And Noran has just added me as her friend on facebook too! Noran! Bless her!
Her:
I have just yesterday, joined facebook and am now working out what to do with it.
Emma is in in the UK for the coming year
Me: Top Banana.
Terse much? I don't know, maybe I was being stupid. It seemed to me that her initial statement wasn't exactly crystal clear, grammatically (particularly given that, last I was aware, Emma was
in
Egypt, where she lives), thus my question. I grasped she was going to be in the UK for the coming year, rather than in Egypt, what with, you know,
reading her email.
Right now I'm pretty much "What. The fuck. Ever."
ion, I seem to have a date.
Oooh, Fay, have a wonderful time on your date. And sorry about Emma's injuries, hope she heals up. And you have my sympathy on that frustrating interchange with your former flatmate. Dunno what was going through her mind.
It's quiet in here this morning...
We didn't but I was dealing with shit.
Liv's passed out in the chair. I need to get us dressed, since we're supposed to be having lunch out among the humans.
Cheers, Andi! I'm terribly impressed at myself for saying yes rather than running away. Most out of character.
Meanwhile, on the subject of email exchanges that make you go "!!!!!!":
My mother:
Did you ever see the film guess who is coming for
dinner ? well it is my Katherine Hepburn and whats his face moment this
evening Will tell all when they have gone
Me:
(speechless)
To give a context - My little sister's visiting the UK for a few days, during which time she's bringing her current fella up from London to visit. He is, you will gather, considerably less Caucasian than my mum.
I just....I have no words. Although, you know, I love her beyond the telling of it, and I know that she and my father are v. well-disposed to the current boyfriend (who is cute, is a barrister, has moved back in with his Mum so he can look after her rather than letting her go into care, met my sister while he was shaking his ass in a Salsa club and has already been over to visit her in Spain several times) and that they will be going out of their way to be nice to him. But, but - oh, lord, I'm wincing so, and hoping they don't embarrass themselves. They mean really really well. It's definitely not their fault - Barnsley is about as multicultural as a totally un-multicultural thing, but both of them have always enjoyed the chance to escape and know people of other backgrounds. I mean, they mean really really well, and they're very open minded about lots of things that their friends and peers really aren't, including taking people as people, regardless of what flavour they are. And Mum has several times commented with increasing distress that pretty much all of her friends, she's come to realise, are actually quite overtly racist, and it upsets her terribly.
But, but...oh crumbs. I do hope it all goes well. I do love them so.
Well, he sounds like a very nice bloke, and I'm sure it will all work out. God knows Mum's always made it known that she'd much rather have mixed race grandchildren than pasty little redheaded grandsons. (She's a redhead herself, but really doesn't like boys with red hair, aesthetically, whereas mixed race kids tend to make her ovaries explode with uncharacteristic broodiness. Go figure.)
I paid bills! Then I balanced my checkbook! I still have money left!
It's a good Monday.
Well done, vw! I am afraid to look at my checking account. I desperately need to take money to the bank! List of things to do today, I suppose.
