We slept late. ::yawns::
Spike's Bitches 37: You take the killing for granted.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
We didn't but I was dealing with shit.
Liv's passed out in the chair. I need to get us dressed, since we're supposed to be having lunch out among the humans.
Cheers, Andi! I'm terribly impressed at myself for saying yes rather than running away. Most out of character.
Meanwhile, on the subject of email exchanges that make you go "!!!!!!":
My mother: Did you ever see the film guess who is coming for dinner ? well it is my Katherine Hepburn and whats his face moment this evening Will tell all when they have gone
Me: (speechless)
To give a context - My little sister's visiting the UK for a few days, during which time she's bringing her current fella up from London to visit. He is, you will gather, considerably less Caucasian than my mum.
I just....I have no words. Although, you know, I love her beyond the telling of it, and I know that she and my father are v. well-disposed to the current boyfriend (who is cute, is a barrister, has moved back in with his Mum so he can look after her rather than letting her go into care, met my sister while he was shaking his ass in a Salsa club and has already been over to visit her in Spain several times) and that they will be going out of their way to be nice to him. But, but - oh, lord, I'm wincing so, and hoping they don't embarrass themselves. They mean really really well. It's definitely not their fault - Barnsley is about as multicultural as a totally un-multicultural thing, but both of them have always enjoyed the chance to escape and know people of other backgrounds. I mean, they mean really really well, and they're very open minded about lots of things that their friends and peers really aren't, including taking people as people, regardless of what flavour they are. And Mum has several times commented with increasing distress that pretty much all of her friends, she's come to realise, are actually quite overtly racist, and it upsets her terribly.
But, but...oh crumbs. I do hope it all goes well. I do love them so.
Well, he sounds like a very nice bloke, and I'm sure it will all work out. God knows Mum's always made it known that she'd much rather have mixed race grandchildren than pasty little redheaded grandsons. (She's a redhead herself, but really doesn't like boys with red hair, aesthetically, whereas mixed race kids tend to make her ovaries explode with uncharacteristic broodiness. Go figure.)
I paid bills! Then I balanced my checkbook! I still have money left!
It's a good Monday.
Well done, vw! I am afraid to look at my checking account. I desperately need to take money to the bank! List of things to do today, I suppose.
Aww. Well, they're taking it better than my parents did, Fay! Could be worse!
And, maybe I'm clueless or terse myself, but I don't quite get the drama of the IMs with former flatmate (is this R, who I met? I saw she's on facebook now!)
I need to write a cover letter. Then apply for a job. I hate cover letters. I was SO excited for the other job to find out that applying involved putting some info into their website, and attaching your resume. No place for a cover letter at all! But this one, there's a spot, so I feel obliged to put in a good one.
But, but...oh crumbs. I do hope it all goes well. I do love them so.
I'm sure once they get to know him as an individual the novelty of it will wear off pretty quickly.
d, health ~ma for your dad (and your checkbook, although those bits of health ~ma are not the same).
Fay, have a great time on your date! Then tell us all about it!
I hate cover letters.
Me too. I always ask another librarian I know (who wasn't applying for the same jobs) for her last one and go from there (and vice-versa).
The air conditioning in the building broke over the weekend and we are just beginning to feel cool air in our offices. Why can't they tell me this before I wear pants to work? I would have worn a skirt and come to work with my legs bare.
Today is my parents' 47th wedding anniversary. If my DH and I make it to our 47th, I'll be 82 at the time.
I think Eden Mendoza (current Elphaba in LA) is better than Idina Mendel (OBC Elphie).
Yeah, I saw it in DC with Stephanie Block (OBC Boy From Oz), and I thought that she was better than Idina as well. Not that Idina doesn't rock, but Stephanie had better phrasing and tone, I thought.
now, a kinda gross Bitches question (white fonted) Does anyone know how to get blood out of a mattress? Had the accident a while ago and had planned to get a new mattress anyway, but procrastinated, and now I'm about to move, and it's a bit unsightly. I 've soaked in it OxyClean, but not sure that it will work. Thoughts?
Vortex, there's a new Resolve that I've seen commercials for that might work for that.
ETA: It's Resolve Multi-Fabric Cleaner. One of the things they advertise it working on is mattresses. It's worth a shot...
