Punishingly Intricate

yes, but what did you decide to wear?

Plus jean shorts and totally sugar shiny red almost flats. And a new sparkly belt.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Uhm, it went great. She asked me out, which took a whole lot of pressure off of me. (I was planning to ask her out, but she moved faster than I did).

I was calm throughout the whole date. We talked about ourselves, we have a whole lot in common; I talked about b.org and she seemed to get it. She mentioned she liked to watch Dark Angel for the eye-candy, and I told her I understood completely.

It all went perfectly until the end of the date, when I tried to get a little more emotional, and then the whole fight-or-flight response kicked in.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

That sounds like a pretty damn good first date to me (though it's been a long time since I had one).

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Sounds great! Go you!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That sounds excellent, Tom!

Of course, the only thing I'm dwelling on is how badly I may have screwed things up at the end.

To clarify: I'm betting you neither bopped her one or literally ran away, right? In that case, it sounds excellent.

There is almost no brief weirdness that a nice phone call/email/other type interaction can't smooth over.

hip deep in pie

Awesome Tom.

Fight or flight response is not that unusual at the end of a first date. Or at least, not for me.
