I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Dean's projected path now completely excludes Texas. I'm selfishly grateful (and still wary). I hope Jamaica makes it through okay.

I bought my tv fromm a rental place 9 years ago for $40. It had an episode of psycho turning on, and then the time the contrast just came on wrong, but it seems to have gotten over itself. So I'll wait a little longer. And get snitty about how expensive tvs are when really, the problem is I'm cheap.

I have grocery shopped, baked 5+ dozen cookies and cleaned. Once again I timed it so I would be starving and waiting for the floor to dry. And have no idea what I want for dinner.

Oh well.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

My oven door is too light - the ignition of the flame sends it shooting open. Hard enough that it slams back closed, fortunately, so the only issue is not jumping out of your skin.

Flat screens, it turns out, are not that much more expensive than decent regular ones, so when I got a new tv last year it seemed more than worth it for the extra space and flexibility. Not plasmas, mind. Those are still in lottery territory for me.

Squee! Can't wait for my new washer/dryer, also centrally located right between the bedrooms and the kitchen.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My sister had been posting regular hurricane updates to her LJ, but I think we're a couple hours into scheduled power outage time. The eye is supposed to go just south of the island, but I'm not sure that's any better than right over the top, since we're so small and it's so big.

My mother is probably having kittens, since she's in New Mexico right now. Last big one she went home early from.

I won't be calming down for another few hours, but I am going to stay away from news sources in the meanwhile.

I am jealous of the inhouse w/d.

So this is how I decide on dinner: oh, I have eggs leftover from baking. I should hardboil them. (rummaging) huh. Moldy colby jack. I can cut off the mold. I'd better use this lettuce soon. Oh hey, I bought cherry tomatos. Have enough ham left for lunch so..

...and so as soon as the eggs are finished, I guess I'm having a chef salad. Tomorrow: use the brick of feta I found in the way back.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Hey, I have a car question. I parked my car under a tree filled with birds with digestive problems, and my car got bombed. I couldn't get to the car wash until yesterday, so the poop got a baked on. Most of it came off, but there are still a few spots. Any suggestions for getting it off? All I can think of are abrasives that would be bad for the paint.

I'd start by putting soaking rags or sponges on those spots first.

ita, I hope the storm is of minimal impact to your family & friends & the island itself. I remember your mom flying BACK for that other one.

Punishingly Intricate

I am going to be working on a document all night. I hope some of you plan to be here to entertain me when I need to take a break.

sarameg, good use of found ingredients! I LOVE a chef salad.
