So, just got off the phone with the electric company and it really sounds like there's nothing I can do. If I can't pay the full amount of the budget plan - they take me off it and they can do a deferred payment which is the same amount - you know - that I can't afford.
Makes no sense.
Oh, and people on electric heat get billed at a different rate from people who just have heat for lights and things - my landlord probably should have informed the electric company so that they could schedule a time to come in and confirm that the heat is electric.
So, now I've done that.
Did the electric company read the meter this time, sumi (and have they been estimating in the past)?

But am I understanding that his now-ex is in her early 30s now and they've been together for 10 years and she was in a 10-year long abusive marriage before that??? Meaning since she was an early teen she's been married? WTF? Or did I read wrong?

This morning my bus broke down on Lakeshore Drive. Another bus stopped eventually, but I still had a hike to my building. I rolled my ankle in the middle of an intersection. I actually have to do work all day today.
Oh, Wednesday. You've betrayed me so.
Okay, I think if I'm very, very careful. . . I can pay that bill. It will be very close.
But the shock. I'm still not over it.

Tom - Good to know that the boys won't hate me in later life for ruining them.
I looked at the past couple year's electric bills and they have been going down steadily. I don't know how much of this is my efforts to control it and how much was price controls put on the electric company. The last 12 months I avg $280 a month, far better than the $302 a month avg for the previous 12 months. I promise I don't heat with electric, but I don't have another A/C choice.
