My complaint is that Bobby isn't in enough episodes. My response to the Japanese was the same as my response to the anti-demon bunker: Cool.

Goes to sit in Ginger's corner.
Didn't he and John originally know each other as a result of being in the service? Not exactly farfetched that an American G.I. stationed overseas might learn a foreign language...

See, that's what I assumed! As an explanation character-wise, anyway. I just assumed Jim knew Japanese. Hell, the guy was writing (has written?) a comprehensive biography of George Reeves. He's got plenty of other interests.

My cousin was stationed in Japan and, yes, he did learn Japanese. Just like I learned Spanish while I was stationed in Spain. Not that I learned a lot, I have a crap ear for languages anymore, but I could hold up one end of a basic converation.
Didn't need to say it twice.
That just makes me really sad. And suddenly I remember why I stopped reading the site until Cindy said she was writing the recap. I couldn't read it during Angel either, despite thinking Strega was extremely funny. With some of the complaints in the forums, I want to say, "stop fucking watching if it bothers you that much." Jim Beaver is in too many episodes? Yeah, he has been pretty distracting in his few minutes here and few minutes there.
I still would like to know what Bobby said.
Bobby is awesome, and any haters need to step off.

Current mood: amused
Just a follow-up to make it clear that my feelings aren't hurt. The fans who were complaining about Bobby weren't complaining about me, but the character. So don't nobody worry about me. I'm amused by it and warmed by the response from youse guys.
I figure Bobby will probably be back for several appearances in the final six or seven episodes of the season. Once I get free from Harper's Island, I expect they'll have something for me over at SPN. They've asked a couple of times and I wasn't able, but after January, I'll be free and I'd be surprised if Bobby doesn't show up soon thereafter.
Thanks for the kind words.
Jim
Nevermind. I went to see what the response was on twop, 'cause car wreck--gotta watch, and found out it wasn't a direct post to twop but on his blog. And here was his following post on his blog. MySpace, I guess. So I apologize kinda that my knee jerk response had so much passion left over from another show. my bad.
I love Bobby, but I don't think he's being used particularly well in the show. He's basically a plot device brought in to solve a problem for Dean and Sam, and other than the one episode about his wife's death, he's gotten no character development of his own.
It's not that I don't want to see him, but I want to see him used well, and I don't think he is.
