Where'd they get CAT scan from?... I mean, did they test it on cats? Or does the machine sort of look like a cat?

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I wasn't suggesting* going to TVT. I was suggesting contacting The Mary Sue (or whatever media outlet) via email or other private means. I don't know if other people had been thinking of going to them, but that was never my intention, at all**.

* "suggesting" isn't quite the right word. "Bringing forward the idea of"

** Obvious disclaimer that the person who starts the conversation doesn't get to define the terms of it for the entirety of it's existence. Just clarifying.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I'm sorry, I know people are pissed about it, but all that happened really is that we got trolled by the guy that now runs TV Tropes. No one here is surprised that he's a loser who continues to act like a dick.

What is even happening?

I whole-heartedly agree, Allyson, but I think that's why I wish we'd let it go. He came. He trolled. We conquered. That we didn't buy an OxFam goat is enough for me. I just didn't want people breaking their budgets on his behalf, when I always knew he was a faker.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Oh, I suppose I forgot to say this earlier, but if the author of that Mary Sue post is who I think she is...I am not sure we want her on our side.

DebetEsse, are you asking for a board consensus to write to the Mary Sue on behalf of Buffistas?

If you want to email on your own and say, "I was there when this shit happened," well, that's your own experience and you can do with it as you please.

I'm just not sure what you expect the Mary Sue will do with it. If they publish your email, we'll either get a shitstorm of weirdos, or we won't.

I'm trying to imagine what they'd do with, "FYI, Fast Eddie posted as his "dead friend" "Gus" at Buffistas. He's actually one of those weird Munchausen's by Internet people and pseudicided. He was a weird jackhole before TV Tropes, so none of this shit is surprising."

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I think Debet felt that this was a collective experience and she didn't want to take our story outside of our home without at least taking an inventory of how the group would feel about it.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

My feelings are largely Allyson's. But then, I was never greatly invested in him in the first place. I don't think there's much to gain in going public with our story. I don't really think it'll be received the way we think of it, by people without the emotional investment this board had.

I guess that's what I'm confused about, Cindy. DebetEsse isn't "we." She doesn't need our permission to out him or tell the story.

If she's thinking of how it would affect the humans here in terms of being inundated with trolls, then that's pretty courteous.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Allyson, I don't think a board consensus is likely to happen, and I don't see any good coming of taking a vote. It's entirely possible that the moment in the news cycle has passed, anyway.

I very much felt the impulse to write on my own behalf, but I didn't want to do that without at least consulting the group, since I didn't feel comfortable saying, "You can use this" on my own authority, and--you're right--it would have been useless, otherwise.

Had I emailed them, I think it might have been a data point in the second article they posted, but, as I said, I get the feeling that the news cycle has moved on, unless something else new comes up.

eta: I was drafting this while other people were posting! Aims got it in one, and thank you, Allyson.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

but if the author of that Mary Sue post is who I think she is...I am not sure we want her on our side.

Well now I'm all curious. Not that I know anything about anyone at Mary Sue.
