Hey, when does the secret santa signup traditionally start?
Unless the wonderfully re-de-lurked Dani wants to head the game again, I'm more than willing to start collecting names in my hat again, this year (this time, I actually do have a hat! Nothing that looks too Santa-y, but still). I usually wait a few days after Halloween, to keep the holidays spirits apart, so sometime this week, I guess.
Again, if people want to play, of course.
are we ever saying good riddance to 2008? Come on, people.
I'm still chasing a few of last year's super-duper-with-a-super-sauce slackers. There are still some giftees who are giftless, I'm afraid.
I think 2009's thread might need an expiration date, as maybe an added "incentive". Come on people is right. It's rude.
I feel so bad for the giftless giftees, and I feel so bad that there's nothing I can do, other than e-mail and try-to-nag, in order to set things right for them.
Come on people is right. It's rude.
I have avoided saying anything, out of not wanting to hurt feelings and stuff, but it is rude. And it just seems pointless to have a "goodbye to the year" thread if it stays open the entire year.
Maybe when we open the new thread, we could close the old one and any 2008 related posts could just go in the 2009 thread?
Has anyone used elfster.com? I was thinking of doing it through there.

I agree. And, though I hate to say it, it's made me not want to participate.
I vote close 2008 and let any leftover posts go into 2009.
I think it would be helpful to have an end date on Goodbye thread, maybe by the end of February. That would give plenty of room to even Secret Santa Slackees. And if you can't get your present done by the end of February then don't sign up for it.
I haven't participated for a couple years because I knew I wouldn't be able to meet the deadline. And I had really enjoyed the times I did participate but it seemed irresponsible to accept a gift when I didn't know if I could reciprocate in a timely fashion.
I haven't signed up in a couple of years because I suck at deadlines.
