Oh, I meant it should be considered closed as of when Nilly posted the results.
See, I KNEW it was confusing...
I agree with this, but I think if we go the other way we need to make an announcement and take down the results. And I am not sure how we decide this except by consensus.
So, Nilly posted before the end of the election?
Oh, I meant it should be considered closed as of when Nilly posted the results.
Well, agree to disagree. IMO it should be closed as of the expiration of the period that is provided for in our rules, not at the choice of the vote-counter. But that's not going to matter unless there's a different result in this case.
I hadn't realized the thread was close to closing. Given the early results we may as well open a new thread.
IMO it should be closed as of the expiration of the period that is provided for in our rules, not at the choice of the vote-counter.
I agree in theory, and I think we should make sure that it goes this way in the future. I think our choices now are to either go with it as posted, announce that it has been extended, or declare the vote as invalid and start over. I think, since it has been announced, we sort of have to go with it, but I realize others disagree.
I think we've been a little loosey-goosey with the time frame before, haven't we?
I don't remember having the period shortened before, or not shortened without warning that it would be.
Yeah, that sounds about right.
also, with the posted results so close, I would hate to declare those numbers final if there's a chance more votes came in after the post. I have no knowledge of how b.org votes usually go. Have there been votes in the past where the results changed significantly in the last few hours of voting?
Seriously? Vote was up through 12 noon. Nilly posted the results a little early, but it was probably harmless error. On the off-chance that the results changed in that last two hours, Nilly will tell us so on Sunday and any new thread can be closed.
Why would the vote stay open until Sunday?
