eh, loved the show, but I think it's time to retire the thread.

Oh, I should add, probably we'll continue to have a place to discuss Firefly related stuff. Our best guess right now would be Minearverse.
On the one hand, it wouldn't hurt to have another Firefly thread.
OTOH, it would take ten years (at least) for one to reach the next 10,000 mark.
Maybe that's too much.
I know a vote is required to open a new thread. Does the same go for closing one?

I don't know that we've been to this fork before exactly. Well, I guess when Buffy and Angel ended. But we also had Previously On thread to talk about back episodes there. Plus, named "Buffistas."
I don't think it's an automatic rollover at this point.
I like the idea of having a Firefly thread, unfortunately I may be in the minority. Maybe it's part of the "just got here" deal. Understandably, only so much can be said about it now that it is no longer expanding beyond maybe comics. But when new posts showed up I knew they were specifically about that topic. I'd usually go there first. But that's just me.
There was a decision made here before to close Veronica Mars - I don't think it went to vote. Although it hasn't actually happened. That's the only similar situation I can think of.
I'm drawn on the issue, really. Here's one of the few places I think I could actually talk about Firefly without wanting to eat my elbow, but at the same time it's been so long now there's rarely anything to actually talk about.
Yeah, mostly our thread closings have been at the behest of the thread denizens and have not gone to a vote. But those were smaller subgroups, like Atlantic Canadians, that sort of thing, which had also outlived its show usefulness. But it didn't close until the thread users asked the community to do so.
As far as comics go, there's Jossverse in Other Media for that.
With Buffy & Angel, we made a cultural decision that we wanted to always have Buffy. But we did also decide we were okay with rolling them together. It was a little weird for people like me who saw the end of one but not the other, but it worked out okay, I think.
Veronica Mars did go to a vote. Jon B. "Sunnydale Press" Jun 29, 2007 10:54:12 am PDT
Today is another lesson in how I'm always wrong. Sorry.
