"I am the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world"

I like the idea of having a Firefly thread, unfortunately I may be in the minority. Maybe it's part of the "just got here" deal. Understandably, only so much can be said about it now that it is no longer expanding beyond maybe comics. But when new posts showed up I knew they were specifically about that topic. I'd usually go there first. But that's just me.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

There was a decision made here before to close Veronica Mars - I don't think it went to vote. Although it hasn't actually happened. That's the only similar situation I can think of.

I'm drawn on the issue, really. Here's one of the few places I think I could actually talk about Firefly without wanting to eat my elbow, but at the same time it's been so long now there's rarely anything to actually talk about.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, mostly our thread closings have been at the behest of the thread denizens and have not gone to a vote. But those were smaller subgroups, like Atlantic Canadians, that sort of thing, which had also outlived its show usefulness. But it didn't close until the thread users asked the community to do so.

As far as comics go, there's Jossverse in Other Media for that.

With Buffy & Angel, we made a cultural decision that we wanted to always have Buffy. But we did also decide we were okay with rolling them together. It was a little weird for people like me who saw the end of one but not the other, but it worked out okay, I think.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Veronica Mars did go to a vote. Jon B. "Sunnydale Press" Jun 29, 2007 10:54:12 am PDT

Today is another lesson in how I'm always wrong. Sorry.

We also voted on the closing of several threads in Jon B. "Sunnydale Press" Oct 19, 2004 4:16:56 pm PDT and the closing of the "Buffy" and "Angel" threads and combining them into one thread in Jon B. "Sunnydale Press" Mar 7, 2005 8:52:12 pm PST .

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

big duluth is me. I realize there isnt a lot being said about firefly, but the difference between ff & veronica mars is the joss factor, no? But i think i am part of the minority here. I will still sing loud and proud YOU CAN'T TAKE THE SKY FROM ME (please). I only hope all the other "minorities" speak up.

I think maybe a vote is the way forward? I'm on the side of no new thread, so long as Firefly talk is welcome elsewhere, but it's not like I'd particularly mind a new thread.

so long as Firefly talk is welcome elsewhere

I can't imagine a situation in which there will *not* be a place for discussions of "Firefly". If/when the "Firefly" thread is closed, the question then, as I see it, will be where it's best to talk about "Firefly" (I agree with those who suggested Minearverse), not if to talk about it at all.

[Edit: signed, spreading the throwing-way-too-large paragraphs custom in every thread possible by now, but started this in the "Firefly" thread, and, yup, it'll always have a special place in my heart, even if only for that reason, but actually, for many more.]

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I don't have strong opinions on new FF thread or not, but, yeah, Firefly discussion will always, always be welcome around here.
