Gunn: The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing. You never know when you're taking it. It could be when you're duking it out with the Legion of Doom, or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it like it was up to you—the world in balance—'cause you never know when it is.

Art Crawl!!!

WX is having problems (shock!) - I just went to "read new" there and got the Buffista Contingency Plan with 1000s of new messages. I am sure that this is an error of some sort but thought I'd alert the stompies to this.

Art Crawl!!!

Actually, I think that WX just reset everything because all posts on that server are coming up as "new."

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

To be honest, there's not a lot we can do about the stuff on WX (or anywhere else we don't own the software). We do have zips of the WX threads in the archives here. They aren't perfect copies (except for a couple that I went through by hand and fixed), but we do have them.

Yeah, now that it finally let me log in, all the BCP threads are marked "new", as is the TTOvies thread. I wonder if they managed to lose all their user history.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

It's actually been fairly stable recently. Sounds like the server went down hard, though.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Well that was a short experiment. I just got terribly spoiled for Torchwood. Yup, Boxed Set is not the place for me. I just can't skim without my eyeballs picking up little details that my brain doesn't want to know.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Hello.

Well, we have hit a stage of transition in our little board identity. The Firefly thread is, at last, sadly reaching nigh upon 10,000 posts. There is currently a discussion going on over there as to whether or not we should let it expire afterwards.

Points on the pro side are: show is canceled, supplemental content such as DVDs are pretty much exhausted, not generating a huge amount of thread traffic.

Points on the con side are: we have cultural ties to the body of work in question, we still participate in various ways in its fandom, does still generate some thread traffic, more than other thread.

Thought I'd bring the conversation over here to see what people thought about it.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

eh, loved the show, but I think it's time to retire the thread.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh, I should add, probably we'll continue to have a place to discuss Firefly related stuff. Our best guess right now would be Minearverse.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

On the one hand, it wouldn't hurt to have another Firefly thread.

OTOH, it would take ten years (at least) for one to reach the next 10,000 mark.

Maybe that's too much.
