Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

  • Pilot
  • Beyond the Sea
  • The Host
  • Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose
  • Memento Mori
  • The Post-Modern Prometheus
  • Bad Blood
  • Milagro

Available as a boxed set called Revelations, so it could be a marketing ploy disguised as hope.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

This is exactly what my Tivo says is coming up over the next few weeks. Exactly.

ETA: I don't really see how they go together.

Clyde Bruckman and Memento Mori deal with Scully's illness/"You don't die."

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

# Pilot # Beyond the Sea # The Host # Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose # Memento Mori # The Post-Modern Prometheus # Bad Blood # Milagro

So, apparently Scully is going to have a skeptical look at ghosts while Mulder swims through a sewer, and then become immortal by being turned into a vampire. Who sings Cher hits of the 70s.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Having just watched the episodes in that set, the only thing I really got out of it is that there was a running gag that I think no one got with a piece of fabric for a psychic to psychic at being torn from Mulder's NY Nicks shirt. Not that they're not good eps (they are), but as far as backstory? There are Psychics and Scully Had Cancer.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I thought I was unenthused and then I saw a trailer. Apparently there is still an X-Files fangirl buried deep within my lizard brain.

This is exactly what my Tivo says is coming up over the next few weeks. Exactly.

Excellent. I shall have them waiting when I return.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

That set of eps with "Badlaa" as a capper are being shown on 7/24 in a mini-marathon on Scifi.

The funny thing is that I don't usually record the X-Files (mostly because they don't play them in order) but I check periodically and marked most of those to record just 'cause there were a lot of good eps in there.
