Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Shakespeare in Love, Dogma, Boiler Room, Good Will Hunting OR Chasing Amy, but not both. Those are the four. Sum of All Fears was terrible.

Eurotrip counts as a good movie actually, because Damon's cameo in it is great.

Sum of All Fears was terrible.

Sum of All Fears is best watched on DVD with the commentary track where the director (a big lefty) and his good friend Tom Clancy (raging whackaloon) talk about the movie as it's happening. It's much more entertaining that way.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I LIKED Stuck on You. Mind, I'm not saying it's a good movie.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Sum of All Fears was pretty bad, but they were definitely looking to reset the Jack Ryan series like they did later on for Bond. The studio picked up the rights for Red Rabbit, the Ryan prequel book, but SoAF did so poorly that they apparently decided not to stick with the Affleck.

Damon in Eurotrip was awesome. Worth watching the movie for, as was seeing that, shockingly KK has potential as an actress.

Yeah! What TAFKAS said!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm finally watching Matt on the Daily Show, and the clip reminded me of just how awesome the beginning with the reporter was.

In short, awesome.

Yeah, it's easy to make giant robots fighting exciting. It's hard to make a walk through Waterloo Station edge-of-your-seat tense. But it was awse.

Matt Damon has a higher percentage of good movies on his list, though he also has Eurotrip and Stuck on You.

Personally, I think the latter should have erased his good movie cred all the way back to Mystic Pizza.

Lurching from one disaster to the next.

Affleck and Damon were both hilarious in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
