(Actually both the actors they cast were way too old, but they were within Hollywood Plausible range.)
I was totally fine with it, especially since they had to do a bit of aging -- Anne Hathaway was probably just exactly the right age for when we first meet her character, but her aging makeup read incredibly poorly (to me, anyway -- she went from glowy twentysomething to glowy twentysomething with a touch of grey and big fake nails). Heath and Jake were both right on that line where they could be plausibly aged up or down by a decade in either direction without looking too improbable.
I think after Gladiator, Russell Crowe would have been out of price range (besides being too old for the part).
However, I like the cut of Matt's jib in that casting idea.
Anyone seen Becoming Jane yet?
Yep, waaaay back in April. I barely remember it now, though.
It was pointed out to me this weekend (by a person who has the antithesis of my taste in movies and fandom) that they weren't so much cowboys as shepherds. But I think he was making fun of me.
You met my Dad? One cannot bring up "Brokeback Mountain" or "gay cowboys" in front of my father without being told that it was not a gay cowboy movie.

Maybe it could have been part of a community service deal after Crowe beaned that hotel worker with the phone.
"The court hereby sentences you to making out with Christian Bale for a period of not less than 120 days."
begins contemplating crime spree...

Clunky writing, decent acting? *sigh* Don't know if I want to bother.

Well, they were shepherding on Brokeback but once Jack went on to rodeo and Ennis turned back to ranch hand, they qualify as cowboys in my book.

I keep going back and forth about whether or not I want to see it.

I'm fairly sure it'll go on my Netflix queue.
Has anyone seen or heard anything about The Last Legion? I'm intrigued, 'cuz Colin Firth in Roman dress with a sword, but it looks like it has the potential to be truly awful.
I saw a promo for it and it's got MORE than Colin Firth. . .but - yeah, zero publicity makes me think that they would prefer to forget about it.
