pay-or-play
Does that mean Del Toro gets the $5 mil for staying home?
Yep.
It's clearly going to be one of those movie adaptations that I will have to forcibly redact from my reality (along with.... [snip] ....Demi Moore's Scarlet Letter)
You mean the movie that's all about the POWER of LOVE and it's ability to overcome ANYTHING?
Not only him, but Christian Bale. Plus, Alan Tudyk. I'm not a huge western fan, but I'll watch this one.
Thanks, ita. I'll keep an eye out for it. Especially if it's got Russell Crowe in it.

Where were these casting directors when Brokeback Mountain was being made?!?
3:10 From Yuma
is the full title. A remake of a Van Heflin/Glenn Ford movie. So glad Cruise never made it b/c then I'd never watch it.
I agree with Julian McMahon being a good choice for Batman. Bale is great alternative though.
I can't de-Oz-ify him. And when I try to de-Oz-ify him, all I get is Chris from Family Guy.
I don't know what season it is but he's been appearing in
That 70's Show
in Oz (har de har) at the moment. His character is great and Seth really appears to be enjoying his role. I'd be surprised if the writers didn't create it especially for Seth.
Anyone seen Becoming Jane yet?

According to the cover article from the latest issue of EW, Matt Damon was originally going to be in Brokeback Mountain directed by Gus Van Sant, but he had just finished The Talented Mr. Ripley, followed by a cowboy movie, and he didn't want to follow a gay movie and a cowboy movie with a gay cowboy movie.
gay cowboy movie.
It was pointed out to me this weekend (by a person who has the antithesis of my taste in movies and fandom) that they weren't so much cowboys as shepherds. But I think he was making fun of me.

That would be
All the Pretty Horses,
which I constantly see touted as the best 3-hour movie that ever got cut to pieces. Anyway, by the time
Brokeback
was made, he was way too old for either of the leads. (Actually both the actors they cast were way too old, but they were within Hollywood Plausible range.)
I went to see “The Golden Door” yesterday. It was a very good movie about emigrating from Italy to the U.S. taking place in Sicily, on the boat, and on Ellis Island. It was mostly in Italian, with subtitles, but there were English speaking parts as well. It also had Vincent Schiavelli (Uncle Enyos in Buffy) in one of his final roles.
