Lurching from one disaster to the next.

3:10 From Yuma is the full title. A remake of a Van Heflin/Glenn Ford movie. So glad Cruise never made it b/c then I'd never watch it.

I agree with Julian McMahon being a good choice for Batman. Bale is great alternative though.

I can't de-Oz-ify him. And when I try to de-Oz-ify him, all I get is Chris from Family Guy.

I don't know what season it is but he's been appearing in That 70's Show in Oz (har de har) at the moment. His character is great and Seth really appears to be enjoying his role. I'd be surprised if the writers didn't create it especially for Seth.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Anyone seen Becoming Jane yet?

Where were these casting directors when Brokeback Mountain was being made?!?

According to the cover article from the latest issue of EW, Matt Damon was originally going to be in Brokeback Mountain directed by Gus Van Sant, but he had just finished The Talented Mr. Ripley, followed by a cowboy movie, and he didn't want to follow a gay movie and a cowboy movie with a gay cowboy movie.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

gay cowboy movie.

It was pointed out to me this weekend (by a person who has the antithesis of my taste in movies and fandom) that they weren't so much cowboys as shepherds. But I think he was making fun of me.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

That would be All the Pretty Horses, which I constantly see touted as the best 3-hour movie that ever got cut to pieces. Anyway, by the time Brokeback was made, he was way too old for either of the leads. (Actually both the actors they cast were way too old, but they were within Hollywood Plausible range.)

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I went to see “The Golden Door” yesterday. It was a very good movie about emigrating from Italy to the U.S. taking place in Sicily, on the boat, and on Ellis Island. It was mostly in Italian, with subtitles, but there were English speaking parts as well. It also had Vincent Schiavelli (Uncle Enyos in Buffy) in one of his final roles.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

(Actually both the actors they cast were way too old, but they were within Hollywood Plausible range.)

I was totally fine with it, especially since they had to do a bit of aging -- Anne Hathaway was probably just exactly the right age for when we first meet her character, but her aging makeup read incredibly poorly (to me, anyway -- she went from glowy twentysomething to glowy twentysomething with a touch of grey and big fake nails). Heath and Jake were both right on that line where they could be plausibly aged up or down by a decade in either direction without looking too improbable.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I think after Gladiator, Russell Crowe would have been out of price range (besides being too old for the part).

However, I like the cut of Matt's jib in that casting idea.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Anyone seen Becoming Jane yet?

Yep, waaaay back in April. I barely remember it now, though.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

You met my Dad? One cannot bring up "Brokeback Mountain" or "gay cowboys" in front of my father without being told that it was not a gay cowboy movie.
