I really enjoyed Ice Age (though I haven't seen the second one).
And I'm with Jess on Nemo, Lilo & Stitch, and Spirited Away.
Also, I would probably put Iron Giant on that list of films that need to be seperated out from other animated films.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Going by the fact that we own them, I would say the favorites of Chez Neil are Lilo and Stitch --because it reminds Hubby of his years living in Hawaii--and Ice Age --because Hubby loves dinosaurs. And not the cutesy Land Before Time dinosaurs, because we keep voting on which one we want to see get squished.
I just re-watched Lilo & Stitch a couple of nights ago, and my love for it remains so large and steadfast that I don't know that anything, Pixar or Studio Ghibli or anything at all, will ever knock it down to second.
It is the most affecting animated movie I've seen, and Lilo is my favorite kid character. Maybe in all movies.
I was bummed to hear that the Lilo director was booted off Ratatouille by Lasseter after an artistic disagreement. I should go check to see what he's working on now.
What about Meet the Robinson's, Aims?
Oh yeah. Damn. That's up there, too. Prolly tied with Incredibles and boots Monsters, Inc down to #2. "I have a big head and little arms" is a common phrase for expressing frustration in the Miracleborn home. Complete with arm movements and t-rex voice. Makes Joe laugh ev.ry.time.
Corpse Bride rocked amazingly. Must rent that.
FUCK! Forgot about Iron Giant.
I have loved all animation since Steamboat Willie and they are all my favorites.
I've never seen Anastasia,
I have a special love for Anastasia as an animated musical. In particular, it came out at a time that I had grown completely sick of Disney animated films because of their insistence on being "musicals," when really what they were was "cartoons with songs." And I really wanted them to just stop with all the songs already, anyway.
Anastasia actually put forth considerable effort to be a musical, and actually follow some of the conventions and styles of musicals.
Which makes it clear that I've just always been a theater geek.

Even Disney's Nazi propaganda film from the WWII days? Sometimes I watch that just to scare myself.
Apropos to this conversation, I watched "The Last Unicorn" yesterday. It was fun, because every time it was getting unbearably boring or silly, something AWESOME would happen. Like a butterfly making Hamlet references, or a wizard saying "Schmendrick is with you." multiple times.
eta: Sean, your rec makes me must bump Anastasia up on my Netflix queue.
Huh. Iron Giant came out in 1999.
I would definitely rate that very high on my list, though not above Lilo or Spirited Away.
Maybe I need to watch Finding Nemo again. I think I've only seen it the once in the theater.
I'm curious to check out Meet the Robinsons since I love the book it derived from, plus an Aimee recommendation.
Gris needs to see Howl's Moving Castle. megan needs to see more Miyazaki and Aardman.
Ice Age annoyed me so much I almost couldn't finish it. I just wanted the saber-toothed tiger to shut up and EAT THE OTHER ANIMALS ALREADY.
