I have loved all animation since Steamboat Willie and they are all my favorites.
Even Disney's Nazi propaganda film from the WWII days? Sometimes I watch that just to scare myself.
Apropos to this conversation, I watched "The Last Unicorn" yesterday. It was fun, because every time it was getting unbearably boring or silly, something AWESOME would happen. Like a butterfly making Hamlet references, or a wizard saying "Schmendrick is with you." multiple times.
eta:
Sean, your rec makes me must bump Anastasia up on my Netflix queue.
Huh. Iron Giant came out in 1999.
I would definitely rate that very high on my list, though not above Lilo or Spirited Away.
Maybe I need to watch Finding Nemo again. I think I've only seen it the once in the theater.
I'm curious to check out Meet the Robinsons since I love the book it derived from, plus an Aimee recommendation.
Gris needs to see Howl's Moving Castle. megan needs to see more Miyazaki and Aardman.
Ice Age annoyed me so much I almost couldn't finish it. I just wanted the saber-toothed tiger to shut up and EAT THE OTHER ANIMALS ALREADY.

Yeah, but the Skratt comic interludes were almost as good as Roger Rabbit shorts for Rube Goldbergesque, whackaloon comic timing.
On the subject of Miyazaki, I am a huge lover of Kiki's Delivery Service and Porco Rosso which fall outside the scope of this question. We watch Porco Rosso fairly often around Chez Zmayhem. Recommended for anybody that loves Miyazaki's flying scenes, and fans of Casablanca.
I don't like the Incredibles. I find the message icky, and disapprove of it as a film to show my child.
Says the woman who is allowing mass consumption of Beatrix Potter, which is no doubt at least as icky, but contains too much nostalgia for my brain to be rational regarding. (Plus, the BBC animated ones are lovely. They really are.)
(Even if, OMG, I am SO SICK of Jemima Freaking Puddleduck and her Egg Angst.)
(And Tom Kitten, and his beautiful tail and blue coat. Singe away, buster. Kitten Dumpling Roly Poly Pudding ON THE MENU.)
I like Monsters, Inc, but Paul is not as fond. Lilo and Stitch is a total weeping sobfest for me. I rarely cry at movies, but that one guts me.

I kept hearing this, but never really got the appeal when I saw it.

BWAH!

Yes, this. Which is a shame because there's a lot I like about the film. But the things I don't like are hard to get over.

Yeah. Stitch is such a surly, snarly malcontent. They really didn't try to fuzzy him up. And the sister is trying so so hard. And Lilo with the punishing her friends, and her bug infested Scrump and her flabby tourist love.
a common phrase for expressing frustration
For me it's "Oh sure, blame it on the guy with ONE EYE!" from Monster's Inc. Love.
eta: Plus, I can do a respectable rendition of Boo saying "kyitty!" which I also love.
I kept hearing this, but never really got the appeal when I saw it.
Maybe because you were trying to claw your eyes out?
God, I hated the Skratt segments. I hate watching things where hte point of the thing is to prevent a creature from achieving something. Why the fuck can't the poor guy get one damned acorn!
