A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Point. Abrahamic?
That works.

Wow. I guess I did just totally forget about the Jews, huh? They might have a thing or two to say about the Ark and whose relic it is.
I don't remember my first R rated movie, but I do remember Poltergeist (another PG-13 precursor) scaring the beJesus out of me. I was terrified to see E.T. and kept my eyes shielded for the first 15 minutes or so out of fear that it would be Poltergeist -scary.

It is. Also occasionally called the Spear of Longinus. Supposedly Longinus was the actual centurion who did the poking.

Yes. Also a first-person shooter by the makers of Wolfenstein 3-D. And a weapon against Angels in Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Or the Lance of Longinus. Don't deny the dude his alliteration!

Heh: the steak, the fall-apart face, and, worst of all, the CLOWN!!!
Mom wouldn't go see ET with us because she was sure the little alien would die at the end (just like any movie with a cute creature in it, according to Mom) and she hates to cry at movies.
So sister Meg and I went by ourselves and loved it so much we assured Mom ET lives and that she should come see it with us again.
But weepy Gertie is a powerful thing and even though Meg and I knew ET would be OK we started crying again too. Mom leaned over and angrily hissed, "I can't believe you girls lied to me!" We had to sobbingly assure her there was a happy ending coming.
