Mooooom, Jilli's creeping me out!
Sorry, sorry!
So! ... um, has anyone seen the new Elizabeth movie yet? Is it as cheesetastic as I hope?
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I did Jilli!
Yes! Cheesetastic! Agreeable enough though. After, L and I counted the three or four things that were historically accurate and decided we'd make a movie with the same basic formula.
George Washington: The Revolution
The only things we'll get right are that the US won, we were fighting Britan, George III was king and that's it. Everything else will be pure embelishment.

Like, the US won the Revolutionary war because Washington bested George III in a mano a mano fist fight.
Yes!!!
Also, the continental congress were writing him to get his advice on forming the new government, which he dubbed democracy, a brand new form in which all men are created equal.

Awesome! What sort of embellishments?
And everybody will sing!
Oh, wait - that's already been done.
And everybody will sing!
Um, everybody kickboxes? Because no one uses guns?
Also, Hessian mercenaries are really Ninjas!

L and I will definately add this to our notes.
Also, Washington will be played by Colin Firth, and will have several hundred costume changes, each more gaudy-yet-flattering than the last.

Heh. Have you ever heard the old Stan Freeberg "United States of America, the Early Years"? Hysterical, and has GW getting into fights w/Betsy Ross over flag design and with the boat rental guy over which color boat to choose for the Delaware crossing.
