Xander: We just saw the zebras mating! Thank you, very exciting... Willow: It was like the Heimlich, with stripes!

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I liked The Host a lot.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

For mindless, violent fun, I always go with the '80s classics of Robocop and The Hidden. Robocop just came out in a newly repackaged DVD release with some decent extras, and since I don't already own it, I'm thinking about picking it up.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

What about Split Second, with Rutger Hauer? That's good times.

"We need to get bigger guns. BIG FUCKING GUNS!"

Chocolate, coffee, and a guy named Dick Durkin, what's not to love?!

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Jackie Chan! Who Am I? Shanghai Noon and Supercop are three of my favorites. Also for mindless popcorn fun I think you can't beat A Knight's Tale plus bonus: naked Paul Bettany!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I loved the hell out of Final Destination 2 last weekend. I'm sure they're all as deliciously bad/good.

Another Jackie Chan: Project A2, which has lots of Buster Keaton gags.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Another Jackie Chan: Project A2, which has lots of Buster Keaton gags.

I was just showing Emmett the bike scene on YouTube last week.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I recommend A Fish Called Wanda for fun time-whiling.

I found A Fish Called Wanda to have many watch-from-the-hall moments. It is one of my favorites plus bonus: naked John Cleese but I wouldn't recommend it for mindless fun.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Thanks, I'll check to see if the library has these. Except for Wanda because it hit my humiliation squick like whoa.
