Gunn: Well, how horrible is this thing? Lorne: I haven't read the Book of Revelations lately, but if I was searching for adjectives, I'd probably start there.

Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I recommend A Fish Called Wanda for fun time-whiling.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I found A Fish Called Wanda to have many watch-from-the-hall moments. It is one of my favorites plus bonus: naked John Cleese but I wouldn't recommend it for mindless fun.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Thanks, I'll check to see if the library has these. Except for Wanda because it hit my humiliation squick like whoa.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

But it's got Jack Davenport's mother in it!

Who is Jack Davenport's mother?

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I'll chime in with the gothy movie standards: Addams Family, Addams Family Values, Beetlejuice, and The Lost Boys.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I loved the hell out of Final Destination 2 last weekend. I'm sure they're all as deliciously bad/good.

Final Destination and Final Destination 2 are good. For some reason, Final Destination 3 didn't really do as much for me. Felt too gruesome, and the characters were really flat. The first two had decent actors. Plus, they killed the prettiest girl in the accident.

move out and draw fire

I agree about Wanda bringing the humiliation squick.

Desperado, 13th Warrior, Serenity, Princess Bride, PotC, Lilo and Stitch, Sky High, The Mummy

Ann, that's a ferret.

For light entertainment, I find it hard to beat a lot of the old musicals. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes bears watching over and over. The old Fox musicals can be great fun. Sun Valley Serenade or anything starring Alice Faye (though The Gang's All Here may be a little too way-out).

And I'd recommend My Big Fat Greek Wedding as a pleasant little romantic comedy whose reputation was ruined because too many people hyped it as The Best Thing Ever.

TCM is featuring 24 hours of Buster Keaton movies starting next Thursday at 6 a.m.

I tend to really enjoy Wong Kar Wei movies, but like Nutty, I found 2046 to be incomprehensible. Er. It was very pretty?

SA, have you seen any of Tony Jaa's movies? Fighty fighty Muay Thai!
