"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

We just got the Madmen set. Couldn't resist the packaging, plus the series is the best thing since the Wire went off the air.

I can't fucking believe HBO passed on it. That really completely and totally boggles me. That's HBO's jump the shark moment. Because they had that talent in-house and it was a perfect series for them. It could've been their post-Sopranos tent pole.

If they were smart they'd give Tim a series. He'd do such an awesome HBO series.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

That's HBO's jump the shark moment.

Nossir, I disagree. Killing Deadwood's 4th season was when the shark jump happened.

Fair point. And Rome right after. It's like they forgot what worked.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Did they kill Deadwood? I thought the creator didn't want to do a 4th season.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

HBO announced that they weren't planning to pick up people's contracts, and then as a followup offer, they offered a 6-episode season, which Milch wasn't interested in doing. There's a lot of bitterness in his last commentary on S3 about how unfinished the stories are -- he had a part in the stalemate, certainly, but it doesn't sound to me like he didn't want to do any more.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

As long as we get more Flight of the Conchords, I'm keeping my HBO. If they kill that in an untimely fashion, I'd probably switch to Showtime so I can get Dexter live (and Billie Piper as a 'ho).

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

thanks amy. I was not an HBO subscriber then, so I thought Milch was the one who decided to pull out.

HBO has been fucking up since they didn't fund season 3 of Carnivale, IMO. Just to bring up an old wound.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

they had a wierd thing where I had showtime, HBO, etc. Then it suddenly stopped. it was after a storm, so I thought that it might be due to that. They told me that I'd only had it for a 6 month deal. I said okay, and hung up. then I started thinking, not only had I had it for 9 months, it didn't even end when he said that it had ended. So, now I'm wondering if they just forgot and then noticed.

The other weird thing is that he didn't try to upsell me at all. You would think that when a customer calls in upset that they've lost their pay channels that they would try to sell them to you. He was like "whatever"

Visilurking

Did you watch last week's episode?

Well I saw the one with the luchadors and then I went ahead and watched one that recorded last night with the plastic surgery aliens. Sadly, my opinion has not changed.

Art Crawl!!!

You don't have to whitefont if it's aired on the East Coast. Of course, what little discussion there has been has been in Boxed Set.

I'm still really enjoying it.
