The viewer has to have some clue that there's more to his plan, if there is. But they're not giving us that.

He's also saving himself, because there is no way that Peter would believe that he wasn't part of it, even if there is no proof.
How is he saving himself or Mozzie? He's furthering crimes. There's more to get punished for, and nothing is being cleared.
He was perfectly willing for Mozzie to sell the looted Degas. That's not the act of someone saving anything.
Aside from the upsettingness of Neal this season, am I the only one upset by the new opening credits? Yikes.
